A:The two religions with the most followers, Christianity and Islam, are the two religions practised by the most successful empires.

For example, Emperor Theodosius made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire and then went as far as to make the public worship of the old gods a crime punishable by death. The Holy Roman Empire under Charlemagne resulted in rivers of blood as conquered tribes were forced to convert or die. The Spanish and Portuguese empires spread Christianity through Latin America, the Philippines and parts of Africa. The British and French empires spread Christianity to North America, sub-Sahara Africa and the Pacific region.

Because Jesus had been so miracles its almost impossible to deny his existence!!! Athiests doubt his existence only because they doubt what there very ancestors had said to the children and unto their children! Christianity is so popular because at the time of its foundation it was much more appealing to people. Thinking that the Emperor of Rome was just as accountable and just as holy as the lowliest slave is a comfort to any "commoner". This appeal made it spread quickly throughout the Roman Empire, which took the religion to far-flaung corners of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Christianity spread from Europe to the Americas, Africa and Australia when European nations colonized these parts of the world. Also, different denominations of Christianity sent missionaries to parts of Asia and Africa in competition with the other denominations. It was the perfect storm of spreading the faith. There was an appeal, a large, powerful nation which led to other large, powerful nations, who then discovered new parts of the world and wanted to "Christianize" those people. The different denominations competed to see which could become the most powerful, so they actively attempted to spread Christianity.

Christianity is a missionary religion. It sends out missionaries to various parts of the world to preach the Gospel to the locals there. Both the Americas & Australia were discovered by ChristianEuropeans first, so missionaries were sent to both continents, & then eventually people from Europe eventually emigrated altogether to the New Worlds to live.

BECAUSE OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD ;D haha well anyway Missionaries traveled all over the world, Christianity kept spreading. The word of Jesus got around and people saw stuff with their own eyes. On another note a lot of people take Christianity the wrong way because people like to call themselves Christians, (thinking they get to go to heaven since they go to church) and judge everyone when that's not who Christians really are

When Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire in the fourth century, it was inevitable that it would be the religion of the entire Mediterranean area and of all Europe. Persecution would ensure that all other religions were eliminated throughout this area.

When European nations began to colonise the New World, it was a time of religious fervour, particularly in Spain and Portugal. It is natural that the soldiers and missionaries took Christianity with them to the New World and imposed it on the natives.

The rest is history. Christianity allowed no competitors wherever it had absolute control, and this now included all Europe, the Americas, Africa much of the Philippines and the Pacific region. With so many people throughout the world of European descent and so many former European colonies, it was inevitable that Christianity would become the largest religion.

It is not. If it was, the world would be a better place. What is influencial are just a few "tolerant" christian principles. But don't worry, Christ is soon coming back to put everything in the right context!

Aggressive proselytizing and historically has had institutional connections to dominate other cultures. It is very easy to be a Christian; other religions can be more difficult to practice.

Why was Christianity most appealing to the Roman Empire?

Possibly the main reason that Christianity appealed to so many was that it gave its followers hope. Most of the early followers of Christianity were the disenfranchised or the downtrodden. Christianity promised them better things in another life.
