I can help , but I will need more details like does it seem almost ok when you are already moving, but is much harder to get in gear once you have stopped? Any noises? Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level for the clutch? Does it go into gear much easier with the engine turned off and truck is stopped? Does it seem to grind morre when reaching for reverse? I dont know how old this post is but if you still need the help.........
There are several things that can cause your 1996 Ford Explorer to stall in start hard. The most common cause is a fuel pump that is going bad.
too low trans flid
aprox 28-30 mph but it depends if the vehicle is accelerating or not. If the vehicle is under hard acceleration it may not shift into third gear until much later.
bad cable
Yes it sure can.
yes it can but also check the speed sensor if your vehicle is equiped with one.
Not that hard I learned in 15 minutes. Clutch shift.......
It could be filled with the wrong oil or the clutch is failing.
How would you know about my car? Get literate! The friendly answer is worn engine mounts or to high idle speed.
Because to press a button to shift a button is like pressing shift to press hard.
AnswerIt could be dirty fluid or a dirty filter in the transmission. That would be the best place to start if that doesnt work I would take to a transmission shop and have the bands adjusted.the 1996 ford ranger has a shift solenoid located on the transmission. This shows up when a diagnostic is run at your local advance store.
Try changing the wheel speed sensor on the back on the transmission. I had the same problem and it shifted the same way. I had a 99 so it might be different. I had one on my differential and also the back on the tranny.
