*those in impoverished or developing nations tend to be more religious
*the Church takes care of it's members and has programs to supply poor members with food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and education.
*the culture of many of these places is more accepting of the family-oriented conservative Mormon lifestyle than the culture of Europe, the US, and Asia.
In addition, The Book of Mormon, used as scripture in the Mormon Church, describes a visit of Jesus Christ to the citizens of Ancient Latin America shortly after his Crucifixion and Ascension, which appeals to those living in the region.
