England set prices/taxes on products shipped to the colonies so high that the colonists could not afford them. The effort to become an independent nation was the only way they could find to solve this problem. In order to become an independent nation they had to fight England for the land.
The colonists didn't want to go by British law. the british believed to be better than the Americans (at that time they were only colonists)because the Americans needed the help of the british in the french and Indian war (also known as the seven years war). the british began taxation and the colonists went wild. the taxes sparked the term, "no taxation without representation." after few short battles, the revolution had begun. the over confidence of the british was their inevitably their downfall.
The following events, while not the only events, may be considered major causes of the conflict that developed between Great Britain and the American colonies resulting in the Americans declaring independence from the Mother Country and the American Revolutionary War. 1. The Colonial wars for Empire, in the 1600-1700s, ending with the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) 1763. 2. The British Policy of Salutary Neglect--failure to enforce the Navigation Laws. 3. The slow but steady erosion of British control over the American Colonies. 4. Pontiac’s Rebellion and the Proclamation of 1763. 5. The Sugar Act of 1764 6. The Stamp Act of 1765 and the Stamp Act Congress in the colonies. 7. Colonial virtual representation versus actual representation in Parliament. 8. The Boston Massacre, 1770. 9. The Gaspee Affair, 1772 10. The Tea Act of 1773 and the Boston Tea Party. 11. The Intolerable (Coercive) Acts, 1774. 12. Meeting of the Continental Congress in 1774. 13. The Battles of Lexington and Concord.
After defeating France, and her Indian allies, in the Seven Year's War (1754-1763), or the "French and Indian War" as it was called in colonial America, Great Britain, as a result of the costly victory, was in deep debt. The British government, reasoning that the war was necessary to evict the French from British North America, looked to the American colonists to help pay a very small part of the incurred debt. The British Parliament in London, where American colonists were only "virtually represented," as the British government would style it, passed several taxes upon British goods purchased in the colonies. American colonists deeply resented these taxes, which they felt were passed without their consent, hence the expression "no taxation without representation." Eventually, all taxes were repealed by Parliament, save one, the tax on tea entering the colonies.
With three British cargo vessels docked in Boston waiting to unload their cargo of tea, the Patriot colonists struck first, destroying the hated cargo in the "Boston Tea Party." As punishment for this brazen act of defiance against the British Crown, Parliament passed several acts, known collectively as The Intolerable Acts" in the colonies, focused primarily upon Boston. The punishment of Boston by the Crown, attempting to exert its dominance over the colonies and make an "example" of Boston, to keep other colonies "in line," had the opposite, unintended effect of rallying other colonies to Massachusetts side. After hostilities erupted at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts in April of 1775 and subsequent battles, the Second Continental Congress voted to declare independence from Great Britain.
America was tired of being ruled, by a terrible king, under the English crown. Also, the colonials were to being consented to the changes that were happening to their land, such as taxation, and having to be constantly watched by the English army, which stayed in the thirteen colonies.
The Revolutionary War fought by the British's 13 American Colonies was fought to gain freedom from the British Crown and the British Empire. The economic status of the Colonies dependent upon the tax and tariff laws set forth from England. Many Americans also did not have the political freedom they wanted due to the fact that for the most part. the British King George, denied certain political rights to the colonies and of course demanded loyalty to the British Crown. This was not to the thinking of Colonial Statesmen and the common people of the Colonies, with the exception of the Loyalists who did not want a war with England and wished to remain part of the British Empire.
It was started because many people had diffrent thoughts on religion and government

The American Revolution came first. King Louis XV who was the King in France (the one that was overthrown and sent to the guillotine during the french revolution) actually gave money to help the American cause. The Americans could not have won the war if they had not received financial & political support from France.
The American Revolution inspired many other revolutions such as the Haitian Revolution and the French Revolution. The American Revolution showed that Revolutions could be started and ended with a good outcome. So the Haitians, Latins, French, and a bunch of other countries revolted.
