Make sure parking brake is adjusted properly and not partially engaged and then try changing Transmission Fluid and filter (had a similar problem)
Sounds like the transmission pressure sensor is bad or usually the wire breaks off and it will cause this
Pick up a tub of "Dr. Tranny Shudder Fix" it does work, and as it says on the package "instantly". I paid $6.99
junk IT
The sign i had before my tranny was toast was the whole care vibrates when shifting between 35 and 45 miles an hour.
The problem is trans. shudder if you have an automatic. I had the same problem in my 1996 cougar, when it would shift from second to third gear. Very easy and cheap to fix, I bought "Mr. tranny instant shudder fix" anout $7 at a NAPA store. After 5 months its starting to come back so I will add another. Good luck.
put tranny fluid in it!
No shifts...jerky shifts....engine faster while car does not. All this while tranny has a full fluid level. Low level can cause the first three.
Chech ALL vacuum hoses. The tranny shifts by monitoring vacuum pressure.
no. the 4l60e shifts electronicily off the computer.you would have to ghange the wiring harnessfor a 4l60e tranny.
sounds like you burned out some bands. i would take it in and have it checked before you burn out the others. I would also have a tranny radiator/cooler put on. This will sve your tranny if your engine ever overheats. By the way, has your engine overheated in the past 6 months to a year. If so then I know its your bands.
check the gear in the tranny first
You need to change fluid from both the pan & torque converter {has plug} ---also add a "limited slip differential treatment" {aprx. 4 oz.} Vibration will quit usually before 25 miles. Change the transmission fluid to Mercon V or ATF-3 (Chrysler qualified). The vibration is caused by torque converter clutch shudder during engagement in 3rd. Another possible source of shudder is caused by synchronous bind of 3rd and 4th gears during the shift transition which can be tuned out by a valve-body modification. In any case, the proper fluid will correct the trouble. Answer Most Ford products have a problem with tranny shudder. A good transmission shutter fluid will correct the problem within 25 miles of driving.
