If a rack could be air in system

Could be steering rack going bad losing pressure What type of unit is this? I have a masey tractor that gets out of adjustment and will turn beter one way. but if it is a car i would look for an obstruction,or linkage that is bound.

== What vehicle is this in? On some older British and American cars, they had adjustable spool valves which had to be centralized or this problem would arise. If it is a newer vehicle, it sounds as though you still have a problem with the spool valve in the steering rack. Could be a broken Teflon ring, blocked ports in the valve (they are tiny). www.powerbrakeandsteering.co.za

What is the name of an additive that could be put in a power steering pump on a Honda that would stop a squealing noise when making turns?

I Would Suggest A Product Made By LUCAS POWER STEERING TREATMENT. Worked Great For Me. Hey Another Thing Your Belt May Not Be Tight, Have Your Power Steering Belt Checked. If making turns causes your P.S.P to squeal, it may be low on fluid. Try adding p.s.p fluid.

Is making noise when you turn the steering wheel?

If you mean "what" is making noise when you turn the steering wheel? It usaually means you need power steering fluid. If you run too long without power steering fluid it will make your power steering go out. If it is making a shuttering noise when you take sharp turns. Your rear differential may need to be serviced. I would have is burnished.

How do you tell if its your power steering pump or your rack and pinion that went out?

If it turns hard in both directions evenly, I would suspect the pump is at fault. If it turns hard in one direction unevenly, I would suspect the rack.
