No, it won't. Even if the black hose is in the sun, the surface area is too small and the transit time of water too brief to absorb much heat. Black 4'x20' solar panels are available to perform the heating you are thinking about. They are a series of thin black tubes that expose small columns of water to sun. They are about $200 each. Blackhern says: I run my children's 12'x36" pool water through 400' of the cheaper 3/4" black PVC hose with a 1/2 hp sump pump (total cost $200) and: I raise the temperature 2 degrees at the end! I've been able to get the pool up to 76 degrees so far with 78 degrees at the hose. I'm going to experiment with covering the hose coil with 6 mil plastic in a black lined 6'x8' 4" high "box" to make sort of a greenhouse effect. I'll get back to you. Please keep in mind volume is the crucial factor here. One solar panel mentioned above will not provide the volume of flow you will need for larger pools. If I were to heat our 18'x48" pool I would have to use two sump pumps and 1000' of black hose (at least). If you don't have the south sun exposure in your backyard your spouse may not be too crazy about all that hose on the front yard. writing from Toronto, Canada

Is a water hose with running water a siphon?

Is there a pump that will convert the garden hose attachment to a recycled water supply from the pool?

From the question I'm not sure if you mean the hose bib that is attached to most pool plumbing for draining. If so that hose bib will discharge water only while the pool's pump is running. The water comming out would not be potable, and not very good for plants. I can't think what else it would be good for.

How do you drain your above ground pool with a garden hose?

Siphon it out. You can create a siphon by either sucking really hard on one end of the garden hose while the other end is under water, or the easier way, with 2 garden hoses as follows: -Get 2 garden hoses. Hook one to the spigot, put it in the pool and turn it on. set the other hose up with one end in the pool, and the other wherever you want to drain the water to. -Hold the ends of the 2 hoses that are in the pool, together with your hands, so the spigot water runs through the 2nd hose. Pull them apart, and you will feel the suction pulling the water out of your pool through the empty hose. -Take the hose that is connected to the spigot, out of your pool, and turn the spigot off. -Make sure the other garden hose does not fall out of the pool, or you will lose suction and have to start all over again! -When you get towards the bottom, you will have to physically hold the hose and move it around to get the water out without losing suction. You have to have the end of the hose that the water is running out of below the level of the bottom of the pool. You can do it with on.y one hose. Put one end of the hose in the pool and connect the other end to the faucet and turn it on until the air is forced from the hose. If the faucet is below the pool just disconnect the hose and lay it on the ground. You can move it around as long as the end of the hos estays below the top of the water. If the faucet is above the water level have someone put thier finger over the end of the hose in the pool while you move the end of the hose to a spot below the bottomof the pool.

Is there an advantage to a black bottom pool?

No. It is purely an aesthetic choice. It is a myth that black bottom pools are warmer. Don't argue with me, I have proved this several times. Put a black plate and a white plate in the bottom of a pool and check it a few hours later to see if there is any temp difference....there won't be. Water absorbs all the heat in the first 12 inches.
