NO it is not anywhere close to the same. This is not exactly true. 91 was a cross over year. It was the first year for the new style gauge panel with the tach but the last year for that style wiring and speed-o-meter control box. So if you have a pre 92 truck and want the newer style
gauge with the tack there is only one year pickup that is a direct bolt
in.
Yes they were the same exact cluster.

yes it will fit but you need to get the cluster programed to the truck has something to do with the gem in the truck it wont work unless you get it programed wont strat.
Hi! You can fit an instrument cluster from an SX/ELX directly they just plug in and are not coded to the vehicle!!!
Open the dashboard underneath the steering column. If you you see a yellow plug that's not connected to anything you should be able to fit the 1600 instrument cluster without modification and it will work.
The Volvo s60 v70 s70 s80 xc90 Speedo dash from Volvo s60 will fit in the 2002 model.
Physically it will fit in but the 91 had more indicator lights on it than the 88 did, the inflate/reset light for example for the airbag
I will be able to answer that questions in 2 weeks. I have a 2001 in Florida that needs repair and I have a 2004 in Ohio. I recently replaced and repaired instrument cluster in the 2004, so when I get to Florida, I wll try to trade the parts out.
I assume the problem you are having is that the instrument cluster doesn't fit past the stearing wheel. The cluster has to be pulled out the front of the dash. First remove the bezel around the front of the cluster and then the 2 large bolts that hold up the steering colum must be removed and you can lower the wheel down onto the seat and pull the instrument cluster out towards the drivers seat. Another tip is that odometer is digital and it is common for it to look shattered or black if you are removing the factory black faces to install white ones. Don't panic when you plug the gauge back in it will return to normal.
It should, as they both receive their signals from the BCM, but even the dealer service department is not 100% sure.
