Check the fuse, and the Turn Signal Flasher Relay. The hazzard lights have a separate relay.
Did you happen to check the turn signal flasher before you installed the switch?
check fuses and relays and flasher and go from there
yes i changed all of that but it still is not working so im wondering what else could be causing this
Check the flasher for the turn signals which is under the dash on the left side of the steering column . It is different from the emergency flasher.
The signals and the emergency flashers have separate circuits, separate fuses, separate flasher relays. Start with checking the fuses, the bulbs, the signal flasher relay and wiring and if it still doesn't work it may be the signal switch is bad.
If you mean the turn signal flasher it is located under the dash near the steering column. If one side still flashes, turn on that sides signals and track down the clicking sound. Often one side will quit working before the entire thing quits. Your four way flasher looks the same but it is a different circuit.AnswerThe flasher is an electronic device incorporate with the hazard warning switch. It is selected thru turn-signal switch when "H" switch is out. It is refered to as a timer. The relay switch for your turn signals is located behind your hazard light flashers. It is literally DIRECTLY BEHIND the button used to turn the emergency lights on and off.
If you replaced the flasher on your 1999 Mercury Cougar and your turn signals are still not working, you should check the turn signal fuse. This fuse is located under the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle to the left of the steering column.
check the bulbs, check the fuse then check the flasher, if they are still dead the signal switch may be at fault.
have you tried replacing the flasher u need to replace the flasher can for the turn signals there are 2 one for hazards and one for turn signals usually found in the fuse box, and cost about 3 bucks
Could be turn signal flasher Could be problem with switch in steering column Could be turn signal flasher Could be problem with switch in steering column
More detail: the turn signals slowed down gradually and then stopped working. All lights still flashed when hazard lights switch was activated. The bulbs and fuses are all okay, and I have replaced the hazard flasher (which I think is a combo hazard/turn signal unit). Can't see any other flasher unit under the panel, don't know what else to try. Any ideas?
u need to replace flasher can in your vehicle This could happen if flasher had hazzard flasher "on" and could be broken so it will not turn off. (I assume center brake light still works) if so, need new flasher switch in steering colum or find a way to rewire brake lights from brake light switch to rear lights. This is just a guess. Be sure brake light switch is OK.
