Virginia, with eight (Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Wm. H. Harrison, Tyler, Taylor and Wilson) was the birthplace of the most presidents. However, Taylor and Wilson moved out of Virginia with their parents when they were young children and Harrison as a very young adult. The other five were the only ones who held office in Virginia and lived there after they left office and are buried in Virginia.
Ohio had seven presidents born there, Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Ben. Harrison, McKinley, Taft and Harding . Harrison and Grant left the state as young adults and never lived there again, but Wm Harrison moved there as an adult, was living there when elected President and is buried there. The other five all held office in Ohio and had their homes there. So, sixpresidents actually lived in Ohio as adults and are buried in Ohio.
