There are many potential causes for this sound, but if you are still having issues turning, you should have the front end inspected and diagnosed immediately. Many repair shops will perform such an inspection for free, just be aware that some problems may require repair before they can allow the vehicle back on the road. That doesn't mean they can hold you hostage, but if repairs are required for safety reasons, you'll either have to have them perform the repair or you will have to tow the vehicle to another mechanic of your choosing. As far as what could cause the rubbing noise, it could be worn or damaged brake parts, worn or damaged steering linkages, worn out ball joints, failed or failing struts, bad CV joints, the list goes on.
My wife and I purchased a Sebring (1998) that had the same problem. We were told it is the chip in the key. The key needs to be replaced.
Do you mean that the heater will not shut down either by turning the thermostat down or turning the switch off. If turning the pump off will not shut down the heater it could possibly be one of the high limits or the gas valve has failed in the open position. If the heater will not fire when calling for heat then one or more components has failed. k
You replaced the ignition lock, and it will not shift out of park? If that is the situation, it sounds like the column is out of sync. More details are required to give a solid answer. A more common issue with these is the actuator rod in the column breaks. If you replaced the lock because it was turning hard and wasnt always cranking when turned, this may be your problem instead of the lock.
Take the steering column housing off (usually held by 4 screws from the bottom) and remove the starter cap from the back of the ignition cylinder. In a Nissan, the ignition cylinder usually has a T shaped pin which turns the starter. if you can start your vehicle by turning the starter cap with a screw driver, you probably don't have an issue with the starter.
The lug has been cross threaded and is ruined. It must be replaced. Now your problem is getting it off. Without seeing your vehicle I cannot advise you on how to accomplish this. You may very well have to disconnect the brake lines and remove the axle and take it off as an assembly.
The starter is located near the transmission on the drivers side of the 1992 Plymouth Voyager. The starter is responsible for turning the engine over.
Check TSB 08-31-98A. My multi function switch had to be replaced. (Part # 5012382-AA)
Try turning the key to the on position then back to off 4 times, then press the driver's door lock button. You should hear a chime if it works.
If you lowered the car or had suspension/strut work done you can be rubbing The body in the boot?
It sounds like you have a bad CV joint. Often times the rubber boot covering the joint will go bad after a while and allow dirt and moisture in the joint, causing noise, most noticeable on turning.
water will splash on the belts [power steering, alternator, etc.], causing them to slip, as if greasy, not turning the pulleys. get new belts.
If you just had your battery replaced and the buttons are on the center console and control the AC, they must be reset. I called my local dealer on the phone and the tech told me how to do it, something about turning the AC fan on highest setting and holding the far left and far right buttons in for a few seconds. If a mechanic changed your battery they should have done it for you. Until it is reset your AC won't work very well. Good Luck.
This sound is cause when the strut top are worn out the need to be replaced can cause coil springs to break. They are pretty expessive 183.00 a side.
most likely a bearing has gone out
Problem with multifunction switch in steering column
