Wash it down with a degreaser, might speed up the process

Here's what you do.

Start it up and let it run for a while, then shut it off and let the engine cool down completely.

The oil will gel and become sludge, and at that point will cease to smoke as much. You might smell it for a couple of days, but it shouldn't smoke as much, if at all.

How do you know if your block is broken?

Hey Nena==I presume someone told you that the block is cracked. This happens if the engine gets extremely hot. You just have to take the heads off and look for the cracks or have the block magnafluxed at a machine shop. It also should smoke white smoke while it is running if it is cracked. GoodluckJoe

Smoke from car?

The color of the smoke will help identify the problem. Blue smoke is engine or transmission oil. Black smoke, excess fuel. White smoke, engine coolant.

Can a oxygen sensor make your car smoke?

Not by itself. On newer cars, the oxygen sensor can tell the computer to richen up or lean out the air fuel mixture. It could cause a little, almost unnoticeable amount of extra smoke if it was calling for an extremely rich mixture. If you have a gasoline engine and there is a lot white smoke coming from the tail pipe then your engine is either running excessively rich or has a coolant leak and is burning water (some white smoke is normal in the winter, because the engine runs richer due to the cold). If the smoke is black then the engine is burning oil.

Can you fix a blown engine?

Although it may be easy in some cases to identify a blown rod, like the rod sticking through a hole in the engine, there is really only one way to know for sure. Pull the oil pan off and inspect the internal components.

What are some reasons that the car will start smoking?

Smoking all the time is probably the piston rings. Smoking when you first start it is probably the valve seals. Smoke may be coolant and not oil which would mean a head gasket, cracked head or block. What color smoke makes a difference. Black smoke, to much fuel (flooding). Blue smoke, engine oil. White smoke, engine coolant.

Would a liquid sealant get rid of white smoke from a car to pass smog?

Probably not. White smoke indicates engine coolant getting into the engine cylinders and burning off. This could be a from a leaking head gasket or a crack in the block.

Why is radiator fluid leaking and white smoke coming from the exhaust?

You might have a blown head gasket or your engine block is cracked. Edit to add; The white smoke is steam. That means that your coolant got into your cylinders. A blown head gasket is the most likely cause, but a cracked engine block or warped aluminum heads are possibilities.

Can you harm the engine if you drive it with white smoke?

If the white smoke is being caused by a damaged head gasket or crack in the block or head, yes. If it is caused by an air/fuel ratio problem, it will not be as damaging immediately, but can damage your engine over time.

My car is smoking what could the problem be.?

If it is white smoke, it could be leaking coolant into combustion chamber by a leaking head gasket, cracked block, or warped or cracked cylinder head. If it is black smoke, the engine is running to rich. (too much fuel going into engine). If it is blue smoke, engine is burning oil,(valve seals or rings).
