don't turn it over anymore, you could have already damaged the valves. these are interference engines(pistons can hit the valves if its out of timing). i suggest doing a compression test, but first you have to get it back in time. if you 0 on any cylinder or its extremely low, you most likely have valve damage. i have experienced this recently it sux, cost of doing it yourself ranges from 100 to 700 dollars depending on what needs to be done. Mitsubishi will charge 475 just for timing belt. if you damaged the engine, you're in a world of hurt. About $1000. Been there, done that

A timing chain or belt is worn so sloppy that it jumps a tooth on the sprockets creating loss of power and performance, jumping more than a tooth would render the engine inoperable and in some cases destroy the engine in an interference engine.
The timing chain or belt has worn and stretched to the point where it can jump over the gears/sprockets, in which case the engine would be pretty much powerless.
Your timing belt has probably worn out, or broken, and has jumped timing.
Check the timing in the caravan. It sounds like the timing has jumped, and the engine could backfire then not start, and could not even turn over.
Your question is too vague usually when someone says that their engine has jumped time that means that the timing chain has jumped on the timing sprockets. If that is the case you would need to change them. If the distributor is out of time to do it right you would need to have a timing light. You would need a repair manual for the specifications to fix both of them.
You will know if your car has jumped timing by the way it starts up. If the engine is slow and sluggish, it could be a sign of jumped timing. Also listen out for strange noises coming from the engine or if it backfires, it is likely that there has been a change in the timing sequence.
This engine (3.0L) is an interference engine so yes, the engine could lock up if the timing belt jumped.
Broken timing belt? Jumped time.
It could if the valves made contact with the pistons in an interference engine.
Drivers side, near the bottom of the engine is the Crank timing plate.
1st you have to repalce the timing chaing and gears. Then, you can set the timing correctly.
Very likely
I the Blazer will run then the timing can be checked with a timing light. If not, the there are timing marks on the timing gears that will have to be checked to see if the timing jumped.
Check engine timing, sounds like timing chain might have jumped a tooth

Check the 1989 Honda Accords timing. If the engine has jumped time then the engine will buck and sputter.
