im really not much of a Ford guy but on GM's when you turn the key, it turns a gear that pushes a rod that's conected to the ignition switch. So kind of lay on the floor reach your hand up along the steering colum probably on the top side of the colum and see if you can feel a rod. work your hand up towards the dash. If you think you found it try turning the key while you touch it and you'll feel it move. that rod goes into a little box with wires coming out. that's the switch. useually only a couple of screws hold it in place. It's not a fun job and takes patience.good luck

The rod mentioned in the above answer is an internal slide on my Ford. The switch has a short rod (pin) that engages a slot in the slide. Find the switch, remove it (probably two Torx screws), and you will see...
the solenoid itself is probably bad, if not that probably the ignition switch I agree 100%, check the solenoid first then the switch.

There won't be a relay for the ignition. You may have a "blown" fuse.

take the steering wheel off and take the ignition lead off and then you buy a new ignition with new key or vis versa
