After backing the colonies in the French and Indian War, both King George and Parliament changed their outlook on the Thirteen Colonies. They believed it was time for the colonies to pay for their military expenses. He decided to keep the army intact, creating the largest peacetime army of the time. He limited western expansion of the colonies. Parliament next began to attempt extracting more money from the colonists via the Sugar and Stamp Acts.

∙ 8y agoThe third of four French and Indian Wars was called the King George's War (1744-1748). it was part of the War of Austrian Succession. The only thing accomplished on this side of the ocean was to restore Louisbourg, Nova Scotia to France and restore colonial borders. After the war, King George wanted to tax colonists for the protections offered by the British during the war. The Proclamation of 1763 also stated that the colonists needed to return from any settlements west of the Appalachian Mountains. He set this land aside for Native Americans, hoping for peace.
The other French and Indian War that took place from 1754-1763 resulted from unresolved tensions and spread to Europe as the Seven Years War between Britain and France that ended with the Treaty of Paris.
