Your actually lucky on your car, the other cars in the Century family (Pontiac 6000, olds cutlass ciera, and Pontiac 6000) are quite a bit more involved to open there hoods.
The Buick century is the easiest car to open the hood on when the cable is broken. You will need a T15 or a T20 Torxdriver. You use this to take your grill off. Should be 4-8 screws holding it on. Once its off and out of the way, you can see the hood latch mechanism. You will be able to figure out how to get it to open from there.
The hood is openned by a cable that links the handle in the car the hood latch. If the cable is broken or detached then the hood will not open. The cable has two parts, an outer covering and the actual cable that pulls on the hood latch when the inside handle is pulled, you need to check the inside handle to see if the cable is still attached to the handle, also you need to check the hood latch to see if that end is still attached to the hood latch. If either is disconnected the you will need to get appropriate hardware(nuts, bolts etc) to attach it back but if the cable is broken it has to be replaced complete. This you might or might not be able to do depending on you skill and proficiency with tools.
I have a '93 Jeep Cherokee. I had the same issue with my hood release handle breaking from the cable. I was able to release the hood without cutting holes or taking the front lights out. You have to simply unscrew the release handle from its mounts(3 screws on the inside of the jeep). Remember the handle was attached to a long sheath that is covering the actual cable. Most likely the actual cable is still attached to the hood release. Once the handle assembly is released, pull on the black sheath only, (NOT the actual metal cable) using a pair of pliers. It will take some force as you have to pull the entire sheath all the way out. What will be left is the metal cable. pull on the cable using the same pliers and there you have it....A HOOD THAT IS OPEN! AWESOME!
Actually it should only pop the hood a little bit, the interior latch release is an anti theft device designed to keep people out of your engine compartment. The second latch release inside the grille is meant to completely open the hood, the double latch system also saves you from having the hood hit the windshield if the latch fails while driving, or you forget to latch it completely.
It is a pop song with guitars in it.
"pop" music just means POPULAR MUSIC... so at a time, Elvis Presley was pop music... just as britney spears is pop music now.
IS JUST THE HANDLE OF THE CABLE BROKE OFF UNDER THE DASH? IF SO USE A PAIR OF PLIARS TO PULL THE CABLE TO POP THE HOOD.
If the hood release on a VW Jetta is broken, whether its the cable or the plastic piece, you will need to remove the center shield under the vehicle. It is connected by four screws. Reach up under the vehicle and manually push the hood cable down with your hands to pop it open.
just slam into a big rig and get it over with
I had the same problem. What I ended up doing is taking a cable and wrapping it to the hood pop of the car. I routed it so the cable comes just above the Drivers side headlight and I get the hood open by just pulling that cord. Should do the trick just nicely
take front grill out, stick your hand in there and feel around until you feel the cable get a pair of needle nose pliers and pull on the cable it should pop right open.
My 97 Ford Taurus hood doest not pop open on its own however if you pull the pop hood thing and the take a key or screwdriver and slide it under the hood and push up you can pull it up with your hand. This has scratched my hood up but atleast I can get it open.

its very hard. u have to get a crow bar and literally pop/but the hood open. after its poped open. fix the damage you have done..... sorry but that's the only way to do it.
if you can at least pop the hud a little bit you can rich your hand under the hun and pull on the latch that should let you open the hud.
Well, fact is, you shouldn't pop the hood from the front. You should pop it from the lever on the driver's side if at all possible. But if the cable is broken and you have no other choice: The latch is dead center of the car, just above the VW logo in the grill. You should see where the cable is or was hooked into the latch that holds the hood down. Get a pair of pliers, grab onto this lever and pull it to the right (like what the cable would do if you pulled the lever) and the latch should release.
get a pair of pliers and grab the cable attached to the the hood popper and pull while pulling the hood lever it should pop open
I have the same car and this happens to me if you take your right hand and pull the lever and bang the hood with your left near the windshield the top of the hood it might pop loose if you think your cable is broken then the lever you pull on look behind it and find the cable and pull it with a pair of plyers.
