It's bolted on the body, welded on the door. Door pin/bushing replacement guide: http://www.digitalrevo.com/Jeep/doorpins.html
Hello... I have the very same problem. To remove the hinge pin, you must heat the center of the hinge where the pin goes through, and use an air hammer with a flat pointed end. Manage the air hammer under the hinge, point on the bottom of the pin and pull the trigger. Steady the air hammer so it doesn't move around on you. ....Good Luck!!!!

Passenger side near the door hinge on the dash housing.
Hinges vary in price due to what they are made out of, but you can get a basic hinge for about 4 dollars, but this will vary depending on your location.

To repair a broken door hinge on a 1991 Cherokee Briarwood, a new piece of metal should be welded in to hold the hinge. Then, a new hinge should also be welded in that is aligned with the door pin.
To fix a car door that is sprung due to a bent or damaged hinge, the best thing to do is replace the hinge. If the hinge is welded and not bolted to the vehicle, the entire door will have to be replaced.
The door hinges on the Jeep Cherokee are welded to the door pillar. I had mine break so I took it to a body repair shop, who had to remove the front mudguard align the door and re weld the hinge back on.
Buy a hinge pin and bushing kit then rebuild the hinge on the vehicle and avoid trying to remove the hinge off the vehicle.
Only the hinge pins can be replaced without major bodywork as the hinges are welded to the doors and the frame.

This is the most difficult hinge to replace on that vehicle. The original hinge is welded in place. The replacement hinge bolts in. In order to gain access to the back side of the hinge that is welded to the cab the entire dash assembly needs to be removed. Many times the original hinge can be rebuilt in place with pin and bushing kits and a little welding and drilling of the holes if they are damaged/oblonged. You will need a special tool to r&r the door hinge spring. This tool is available from your local auto parts store for less than $20.
The hinges are spot welded in 4 places. There are detents on each spot weld for drilling. Use a 1/2 inch bit and drill out the spot welds, then the hinge is supposed to come off. The new hinge should come with bolts and a back plate. I'm in the middle of this right now. With the 2 forward spots, the fender is partially blocking for drilling. I still don't have one of them drilled enough for the hinge to separate. Good luck!
The old door hinge pins have to be cut out with a torch on a 1989 F-150. Then, new hinge pins can be welded into place. This part might be available at an automotive salvage yard for a fraction of the cost of new hinges.
BIG JOB! The original hinges are welded in. They do sell pin and bushing kits to restore the original hinges, much easier to do than replacing the whole hinge.
The factory hinges are welded in place. They can be replaced. The spot welds have to be drilled out and the new hinges are bolted in with backing plates. The cab side upper half of the hinges are the most difficult to replace. They require removing the entire dash assembly. There is a good possiblity that the original hinges can be restored by replacing only the hinge pins and bushings. The hinge pins and bushings are available at your local auto parts store. A good mechanic can do this with out replacing the whole hinge assembly. If the pins are worn beyond the bushings and have worn into the hinge bushing support some welding may be required to fill in the worn area.
I just removed the doors on my 1991 Cherokee Laredo(2 door) and all I did was, if you look inside the dorr at the hinges their are 3 parts.the top and bottom part are connected to the door and the middle is connected to the body. i took a grinder and cut off the bottom hinge socket, then after took a puch and hammered the pin witch was threw all 3 sockets all the out. after I found 4 mathcing bolts and welded them solid the the top hinge that is connected to the door. After both of the hinges are removed and the new pins are welded in place I am now able to pop the dorr on or off pretty easy but the body will get bu mped and scratched up from it but its worth it in the end.
