I had the same problem last year. Its in a stupid spot. Standing on the driver's side of the car, look at the engine block. Right by the air intake hose, in front of the brake fluid reservoir. Look down, its hidden a bit by the intake hose. Mines a small black plug, about nickle sized. You have to give the plug a good tug, and it'll come out, level rod incl. You'll also need a really small plastic funnel. It takes forever to fill, really slow, akward to fill in, from the air hose in the way. Hope this helps :o)
The brake fluid reservoir in a 1991 Jeep Cherokee is located on the master cylinder. To add fluid, unscrew the cap and fill to the appropriate level with the appropriate brake fluid, more than likely dot 3.
This transmission is not electronic, its is operated via a throttle valve control cable running from the throttle body to the transmission bell crank.
An AW4 transmission from a 1991 Jeep Cherokee will not fit into a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. The transmissions in the varying years do not appear to be compatible with one another.
