Is bee pollen good for gout?

Gout is a condition in which there are elevated levels of uric acid in the bloodstream. Because of this, crystals of monosodium urate or uric acid are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues.

'Bee pollen' is just plant pollen which is collected from the bees as they enter the hive. Bees feed pollen to their larvae because it is a source of protein. It also contains many minerals and vitamins -- notably potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, maganese, copper and the B vitamins.

Some alternative therapists may disagree, but I can't see how it would help gout. However, if you feel it will help, I am sure it would do no harm.

Is shoulder pain can be cured by homeopathy when shoulder is damaged by rheumatoid arthritis?

Homeopathy (also spelled homoeopathy or homœopathy) is a form of alternative medicine, first proposed by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796, that attempts to treat patients with heavily diluted preparations. Based on an ipse dixit axiom formulated by Hahnemann which he called the "law of similars", preparations which cause certain symptoms in healthy individuals are given as the treatment for patients exhibiting similar symptoms. Homeopathic remedies are prepared by serial dilution with shaking by forceful striking, which homeopaths term "succussion," after each dilution under the assumption that this increases the effect of the treatment. Homeopaths call this process "potentization". Dilution often continues until none of the original substance remains. Is rheumatoid arthritis a disorder that is caused by insufficient immunological response to pathogens?

No Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that results in the immune system mistakenly attacking (among other tissues of the body) cartilage in the synovial joints. This leads to further destructive chemicals being created which in turn destroys further tissue in an around the joints. there is arthritis that has a connection with infection and RA may have some reaction there however RA is not seen as being the result of any pathogen.

If joints hurt but are not red or warm is that more indicitive of osteoarthritis instead of RA?

yes. however a number of joints giving you trouble at the same time especially if they happen to be the same joints on opposite sides of the body is indicative of RA. In any case it would be a good idea to have it checked out as RA needs treatment if it is.

Is Rheumatoid Arthritis nonhereditary?

Scientific concensis is that there can most likely be a hereditory factor involved in RA. The exact cause of RA is as yet unknown. However scientists do understand that many factors may contribute to the development of Rheumatiod arthritis. Scientists have shown particular genes that play a role in the immune system may be involved in determining whether or not you develop RA. on the other hand some RA victims do not have these genes, and then others that do never develop the disease.

I believe that it is nonhereditary, because I have had a chronic diagnosis of RA in May of 2000. We have researched both sides of my extremely large families and have found no one else with any symptoms, etc.

But I did have an emergency transfusion in January of 1980, and I believe that with DNA, and all of those interesting topics, that my system was exposed to the possibility of developing Rheumatoid Arthritis through that. Let me know what you think on this...

RA is not nesesarily hereditory. hovever it is termed as an hereditary disease

Can hyaluronic acid cause gout?

There is no connection between hyaluronic acid and gout. Gout is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood. This causes uric acid crystals to form in joints usually in the big toe, foot or ankle. This is caused because your body no longer processes purines in foods correctly causing uric acid in the blood. Hyaluronic acid plays no role in this process. It is a natural substance that is in your joints and the lack of it in the joints is a cause of osteoarthritis.

Could gout cause swollen fingers and knuckles above the fingers and pain in wrists?

In my opinion gout could cause swelling in toes and surrounding areas since uric acid crystals tend to move along blood flow towards lowest part of the body riding the gravity and lodge in interarticular space of the joints.

On the other hand RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) could cause imflammatory reactions (painful swellings) in most joints since no uric acid crystals involve and body's own collagen material in interarticular surfaces is the major target of attack by one's body immune system.

When taking levoxyl for low thyroid will the use of cortisone for arthritis have adverse affects on the thyroid?

The metabolism of corticosteroids and corticotropin (ACTH) are increased in patients with hyperthyroidism and decreased in patients with hypothyroidism. But, if your hypothyroidism is treated and controlled by Synthroid (levothyroxin), you don't have to worry about this aspect.

Additionally, short-term administration of large corticosteroid doses (i.e., dexamethasone) may decrease serum T3 concentrations by 30%, and long-term corticosteroid therapy may result in decreased thyroid binding globulin production, causing slightly decreased T3 and T4 concentrations. Therefore, you can experience changes in how your thyroid medication works and caution should be taken when initiating, changing or discontinuing thyroid or cortisone related agents.
