First, you need a new net. To get one, go to your local sporting goods store. Then, take a ladder (unless your hoop is adjusted to be short) and go to the rung where you can reach the rim. There should be 6 or 8 spots where parts of the net are connected on the rim. Just cut the old net down. Then, take each part of the net and connect each one onto the 6 or 8 spots on the rim.

The above is correct in that the Mavs did score 86 bench points but if 86 is in fact the record, the Mavs only tied a record that existed before that since the Cavaliers scored 86 bench points when they set the NBA record for greatest margin of victory on December 17, 1991 against the Miami Heat by winning 148-80 and having a 68-point margin of victory.

I'm not saying the Cavs hold the record either since it's totally possible that some other team has had more bench points or may have had 86 bench points in a game predating the 12/17/91 game that I added.
