How does diabetes affect homeostasis?
It affects the pancreas. The pancreas is supposed to make insulin, and receptors in the cells in the body are supposed to store glucose in response to the insulin. So if you have diabetes, either the pancreas is not making enough insulin (type 1) or the cells cannot use the insulin (type 2).
What do you call by a lack of sugar in the blood?
It's called neuroglycopenia and usually results from hypoglycemia, lack of blood sugar.
What are diabetes insipidus and diabetes mellitus?
Diabetes Mellitus is mainly caused by deficiency of insulin due to either destruction of Istet of Langerhans present in the pancreas or any autoimmune cause. Here there is increased blood sugar level and sugar starts to appear to come with urine. It even becomes fatal when sugar level increases very much. While Diabetes insipidus is caused by defect in secretion of vasopressin (Antidiuretic Harmone) which is secreted from pituitary gland present in hypothalamus. Its function is to reabsorb water from distal tubules in the kidney and due to this it contol the concentration of urine. But its deficiency causes increased water excretion through urine even in low intake of water.
What kinds of food can diabetics not eat?
Diabetics should lower their intake of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates come in several forms, like bread, pasta, rice, starchy foods like potato, and sweet sugary foods. It isn't that a diabetic cannot have them, but a diabetic should be aware of how many they are eating per day. The American Diabetic Association suggests starting with a goal of 45-60 grams of carbohydrates per meal, so check your labels and write all the amounts down if necessary. You can eat more carbs on the days you exercise.
Who is the inventor of insulin?
The insulin was first isolated in 1916 by the Romanian scientist Nicolae Paulescu.
Four years later, two Canadian scientists Banting and Macleod won the Nobel prize for inventing insulin.
After that there were many disputes about the fact that Banting was inspired from Nicolae's work. The two Canadians took the credit for his work and only after 50 years from Nicolae's discovery, when everybody already thought it was a Canadian invention, it was proved and confirmed that Nicolae, the Romanian scientist, was the true inventor of insulin.

Is diabetes an example of hypersecretion hyposecretion or receptor problem?
Diabetes mellitus is not caused by a hypersecretion of insulin. A person with diabetes either produces too little insulin, or a normal amount of insulin that is not recognized by other cells in the body.
Diabetes is caused by a lack of effective insulin. In type 1 diabetes the pancreatic beta cells are not producing sufficient insulin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when insulin sensitivity in target cells has decreased, so the insulin is no longer causing glucose uptake.

How can type 1 diabetes be avoided?
I am very sorry to say that you cannot avoid type one diabetes no matter how hard you try. I blamed myself at first for getting it and my parents blamed themselves too but the nurse assured us that nothing could have prevented it. It is an auto- immune disease. Basically your pancreas produces insulin in the baita cells and insulin is a hormone that lets sugar into your cells so you have energy and the system that fights off colds and flu's and other illnesses mistakes your baita cells for a flu or whatnot and kills it. that is why it cannot, unfortunately, be avoided. I am sorry if you or a loved one have gone through this!
Which animals can have diabetes?
Any mammal with a pancreas can develop diabetes. There are two types. The most common of domesticated animals is type 2 diabetes. This is caused by by its diet straying too far from what the animal evolved to eat. The present pet food products tend heavily towards a base of grains, which is not suitable for dogs and cats because they are predators who eat their prey and supplement with occasional leafy vegetation.
However, there is a more natural form of diabetes: type 1.
Type 1 diabetes is more dangerous, and is not caused by diet. This form of diabetes has existed long before the presence of type 2 diabetes, but owing the global obesity epidemic, the terms "diabetes" and "type 2 diabetes" are wrongly used interchangeably. Up until the early 1920s, type 1 diabetes was lethal: it is still incurable. Of the American population, only 0.4% have type 1 diabetes.
This disease is autoimmune, and genetically linked with other autoimmune diseases (especially MS). Without daily injections of insulin, regardless of consumption of glucose, the individual/animal will die. Nothing can be done to prevent the autoimmune system from attacking the pancreas, or to stop it from destroying it once it has begun. After the pancreas has been fully destroyed (the process of destruction varies from months to years), the person/animal will enter a state of ketoacidosis, followed by coma, and death: this would likely take less than a couple of days. Every animal with a pancreas requires insulin in order to live, just for basic function.
Symptoms of type 1:
- The person/animal will drop from a healthy body/healthy weight, to a body experiencing severe starvation/being severely underweight (this will happen as the beta producing insulin cells of the pancreas are being destroyed: theoretically, if a person were to prevent insulin from being delivered in a non-diabetic, they would be dead before they could loose weight). The body during this stage also goes through ketoacidosis, where acids break down the person's/animal's tissues in order to obtain enough energy (in other words, the body begins to consume itself),
- Severe thirst and high blood pressure (believe it or not, just like how a human being/animal requires a certain level of oxygen in order to live, they also require a certain concentration of glucose: your body is essentially a living battery. Without insulin, the concentration of water to glucose is thrown off: the body will be pumping blood through the veins that is literally as thick as honey/syrup),
- Dizziness/blindness/numbness/fatigue/vomiting/head-ache (with high blood pressure and organs slowly failing, these are some of the symptoms you'll notice on the "surface").
In the end, there is no known animal immune to type 1 diabetes, and no known cure. Again, this disease is neither caused nor can be reversed by diet or exercise, as the problem lies with the autoimmune system.
