What species of clown fish are good with guppies?
No Clown fish are good with guppies although it is possible to keep clown loaches (Botia macrocantha) and Guppies together for a while. Don't forget though that Botias are shoaling fish so they should be kept in groups. They also grow to around 14inches long so need a large tank.
Is your female guppy becoming a male guppy?
That does not happen with guppies. They stay the same sex for life.
Can harlequin rasboras and black skirt tetras and platys and guppies live together?
Platys and black skirt tetras can live together. Harlequin rasboras, platys, and guppies are smaller than black skirt tetras and would do well together. However, the black skirts nip at fins, so if you have fancy tail guppies it is not recomended to put them in a smaller tank together.
If your betta fish keeps making bubble nests does that mean you should get a mate for him?
The betta fish is making a bubble nest because he is happy it doesnt necessarily mean he wants to mate or have a friend. Do NOT mate him with a female if you are un-prepared to father the fry. The male will raise the fry to a point, but after that you're daddy.. You need to be fully prepared with proper food, water conditions, lighting, etc. It's a hard job.
He doesnt need another fish in the tank with him, but if you want other fish with him do some hard core research first. Bettas are pron to getting their fins damaged by other fish. == ==

Are Guppies compatible with Rainbow Sharks?
Actually yes, I have baby guppies and 3" long rainbow sharks that swim together
If the rainbow sharks bite the guppies tale then take it out
But if they've been in there more than a week then leave them in there
It is not in the Goldfish species nature to kill one another or even fight. They will however eat a dead fish or a tiny fish in their container. To avoid poisoning your live fish, (by decay) a dead fish should be removed immediately it is noticed. Please keep to the basic rules below and finding a dead fish should be a rare occasion. :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs to have at least 50% of its water changed every week. Follow the above rules and your fish stand a chance of survival. Fail to follow them, and I can guarantee your fish will have constant health problems.

Can male guppies get female mollies pregnant?
Actually, Yes, they can. it is possible but very risky. It should never be tried the other way though; that is impregnating a female guppy with a male molly. the guppy/molly mix would be/have been referred to as gollies and they wouldn't be able to produce offspring, since they are essentially mules.
Is it ok to have guppies in a fish bowl or lockers at school?
Generally it's not. I guess the off chance of having a guppy survive their full life span in a bowl is uncommon. They need heat, around 25 degrees Celsius to stay happy, because in the wild they live in warm water. But the majority of aquariums are kept at 25-26 degrees Celsius or about 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit.
Keeping fish in those jars is as horrible as keeping a dog in a tiny cage! Do not trust pet shop owners when they say "It's fine to keep them like that". They just want to make money. Fish can live in those bowls for a long time, but they'll just suffer.
If you want to keep a fish in a small bowl the only practical choice (that is not animal cruelty) is a Betta or Siamese fighting fish. One male can be kept in 1/2 gallon, ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. 1-2 gallons is preferable. This is NOT suitable for a school locker as Betta's require light and heating to survive. Also, when you keep a fish in such a small amount of water you will need to change all of it every week, or the fish will die. Do not keep him in a bare jar, provide some gravel and plants so he is not bored or he will chew his fins off.
Which grows faster molly platy swordtail or guppy?
Guppies first, then mollies, platies and swordtails all grow at about the same rate.
Guppies will eat neons tetra babies but are not large enough to eat fully grown neons.
While at the creek today with my boys, they started catching, what we thought were minnows and putting them in a cup. When my youngest brought them to show me his catch, I realized they were actually guppies! I'm no expert, but I have always had guppies in our fish tank so I knew right away what they were. The only differences I noticed were they have dark spots right under their eyes and the males they caught were pretty small and had very little color but they were mature. We brought them home and put them in our tank. So far the wild guppies don't really want much to do with my store bought guppies and are just starting to check out the tank. But I am excited to see what happens! Oh, and all of the females they caught were very pregnant, so we will have a pretty full community tank since my 3 original females have been busy themselves.
I woke up this moring and one of my one month old guppy frys spine was bent upword what caused this?

If a baby guppy has a dot at the base of its tail does it mean it's a male?
Not neccessarilly (some females have a little colour and dot like markings) although it is a bit of an indication that the fish may be a male.
Can more than one guppies share a bowl?
It's perfectly OK to keep guppies together, provided you're careful with the sex ratio. To put it simply, male guppies are horny little mongrels, and if there are more males than females or close to the same number they will harass the females half to death trying to mate. It's best to keep all males, all females, or at least three females for every male. If you have female guppies, they will breed - guppies are one of the most prolific freshwater fish. Even if you don't have males, guppies can store enough sperm to continue becoming pregnant for up to ten months, and they will almost certainly be pregnant when you buy them - so if you can't handle lots and lots of baby guppies, make sure all the guppies you buy are males.
Also, it's not a good idea to keep modern guppies in a bowl. The original guppy is small and unbelievably tough, making it a good candidate for a small tank or even a bowl providing that it has strong filtration and is kept very clean. However, the modern guppy has been very inbred in order to produce the different fin shapes and patterns we have today. If you buy guppies at the pet shop and try to keep them in a bowl, you'll probably be disappointed - they have become one of the most delicate fish in the freshwater hobby. Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to track down some proper guppies, as they were before we inbred them - they are delightful.
