What happened to the queen of Hawaii when Hawaii was annexed?
Liliuokalani had no choice but to surrender her throne. She made a plea to the U.S. government for reinstatement, & a representative of President Grover Cleveland found the overthrow to be illegal. Dole, however, refused to accept the decision. The queen withdrew to her residence, Washington Place, & urged her supporters to be patient and avoid bloodshed. A fierce uprising was firmly squelched in January 1895, & although she denied playing a role in the attempted takeover, Liliuokalani was arrested and taken to a second-floor room at Iolani Palace. It would serve as her jail cell for nearly a year. During her confinement, the queen wrote one of Hawaii's most beloved songs, "Aloha Oe". Liliuokalani was pardoned in October 1896. In her remaining years, the deposed queen fought for the restoration of the Hawaiian kingdom. She died in 1917 at age 79.

If you are attempting just to have a general idea about how far apart Hawaii and Australia are, then it is safe to estimate this at 4700 standard miles (about 7600 kilometers) or 4100 nautical miles.
What steps did king kamehameha obtain control of the big Island?
He first united with a cousin on the island of Hawai'i (aka 'the big island') and used their forces to take down smaller ali'i (royalty) so on and so on until they together ruled over the island of Hawai'i, then Kamehameha killed his cousin and ruled over the island alone. After having acquired the warriors of the ali'i he killed, he set out to take over the other islands. The biggest family to conquer was the Ahumanu or Kaahumanu ali'i who I believe ruled over Maui, Moloka'i, 'O'ahu and Kaua'i and they were a huge family who had many warriors. To do this, he bartered with British who he had allowed to take anchor off of his island. He traded food and sex with young women of his island for cannons. Once he acquired the cannons, he went to 'O'ahu and cornered Kaahumanu's warriors who vastly outnumbered kamehameha's warriors but didn't have modern weaponry, only fighting with traditional hawaiian weapons of spears, clubs etc., into a valley called Nu'uanu and had his cannons positioned up in the Ko'olau. He fired his cannons into the valley killing many of kaahumanu's warriors who were unable to fight off cannon fire, and he also killed off many of his own warriors in doing so. Once kaahumanu's warriors numbers were small enough, he sent in his warriors and they pushed them back into the valley which had a cliff at the end, the surviving warriors fell to their deaths. After taking out the Kaahumanu on "O'ahu, he went after Kaua'i, maui etc. where their forces were smaller. Once he took out everyone he ruled over the island of Hawai'i, 'O'ahu, Kaua'i, Moloka'i and Maui. he was untouchable by then, his numbers were too high for anyone to fight against.
Some say he united the Hawaiian islands, I doubt anyone who lived at that time would agree. In reality, he was ruthless in acquiring his power and showed no love to the native Hawaiians that he ruled over. He was power hungry and would stop at nothing to get that power, including killing his family and trading sex with young girls to get modern weapons that other ali'i would not be able to fight back against.
