What is the best hotel to go to in Hawaii?
I have stayed at the Westin on Kaanapali Beach multiple times and I had a wonderful time. I was there with my whole family.. Staying on Kaanapali beach is nice because there is so much to do within walking distance. It is a long stretch of sand with many beach activities. You have Whalers Village located on the beach which is like an outside shopping mall. It has been good restaurants... places to buy clothes and then little drug stores where you can pick up anything. This is a louder hotel with lots of action and lots of family. Great time. I saw Arnold Scwaf (however you spell his last name, saw him before he was the gov. of cali)
I also stayed at the Four Seasons located in Wailea and oh my god it was gorgeous. That side of the island I think tended to be more windy and there wasn't as much snorkeling then there was next to black rock (Kaanapali beach). It was quiet and just pure paradise. The best meal I have ever eaten was at Spagos located within the hotel. The best mojito was at one of the bars inside the hotel. The spa treatment was one of the best that I have ever had. I have seen many celebrities there as well. Before Britney spears had her children I saw her there. Its peaceful and so relaxing. The beach is pretty small but you are right next to makena beach which you would drive to..one of the best beaches on the island but be careful of some of the skeezy locals... lock your car and don't leave any valuables.
I also stayed next door at the Grand Wailea. That hotel was spectacular. The pools are amazing...children would love it. I think I was 21 when I went there (I am 24 now) and i wasn't with my family but I was with my boyfriend and another couple. Oh my god... i ate mushrooms at this hotel and floated through the lazy river... I remember there being lots of children and lots of really cool parts of the pool. Awesome underwater bar.. I saw Magic JOhnson at this hotel along with the couple from that movie Open Water. It was a really magical place. =o)
Last but most defiantely not least is the Ritz Karlton in Kapalua. Beautiful grounds... I have stayed here multiple times and it is also where my sister had her wedding. Everything about this hotel was perfect.. It paradise. You have a private beach here almost. There is no such thing as a private beach in Hawaii since its a law that no one can own a beach...they're all "public" but this beach is much more secluded. The hotel doesn't really sit on the beach.. it is just a little walk from the hotel down a path... not long at all. I found that when I stayed at this hotel I rarely was at the beach there.
