How do you get a teacher to come to your house to homeschool your child?
Yes. Your parents can say that they are homeschooling and then hire a certified teacher to teach you. Parents who are also certified teachers may homeschool their own children as well. However, in most places this is not required and parents may teach their children without any degree or legal certification.

What year did homeschooling start?
Tricky question! Homeschooling, or, the process of teaching a child at home, as pretty much been around as long as people have been learning. Whether the desired education included basic skills, reading, math, etc. or merely the work of a trade, homeschooling started as the norm.
Private schools that charged tuition fees were available to the wealthier classes of Egyptian, Greek and Roman societies-- their sons would be educated to work in the handling of accounts, libraries, legal fields, and so on.
Public school, as we know it, started as a free service of the church, in England in the late 1700s. They began as a ministry, to teach those who could not afford private schools or tutors to read the Bible. This developed into an outreach, in England and in the United States, mostly to orphans and lower-class children; for no charge, children could show up on what was usually their only day off, to "Sunday school" and learn how to read, write, and understand basic written math.
This developed into the daily school system we now know, and later into the "public for all" system, rather than just the underprivileged. In the United States, there was a movement that gradually gained momentum, to pull kids out of school or never let them start, to keep them at home and teach them the way kids used to learn-- with parents, in a controlled environment. It first gained popularity with the most religious conservatives and also those merely worried about the actual value of the public school education. It continues to gain popularity even today.

What is 4.50 round to the nearest dollar?
4.50 dollars would round to 4 dollars.
But beware!
Some people advise you always to round up 0.5. Others say always round down. The problem with either approach is as follows:
In the first case
If the number is 0.0 you don't need to round
If the number is 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 or 0.4 you round down
If the number is 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8 or 0.9 you round up
So 4 downs and 5 ups (and one no change).
Net Result: you introduce an upward bias.
In the second scenario, you introduce a downward bias through rounding.
Possible solution:
Round up from 0.5 half the time, round down the other half. That satisfies the bias problem but introduces another - that of reproducibility. If someone else were to look at your data would they round up/down the same way you did? Unlikely. You need a system which will round 0.5 up half the time and down half the time but where the decision is made for you.
Hence the best solution is the answer given above: Round up or down so that the new last digit is even.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of large-scale farming?
Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
There are a lot of advantages to the green revolution provided that we as people choose to do so. The government should help us to make the change, not make us change. That takes away our freedom if they make us do so.
Climate change is inevitable, there is not a lot we can do to change that. The Earth has be changing climate and geologically for millions of years. A single moderate volcano eruption will change the atmospheric temperature by a couple degrees for about a decade. A lot of the emissions that we Create is CO2, if we stopped cutting down trees there would not be a problem. Instead of trying to change what people drive or use as energy, they should stop building and deforestation. Some of the modifications such as taking the CFCs out of aerosol cans was a good change. Hope this helps.

What polygon has equal sides and equal angles?
A polygon that has congruent sides and congruent angles is called a Regular polygon.
If the number of sides is given, you can be more specific.
Some examples:
3 congruent sides/angles = equilateral triangle
4 congruent sides/angles = square
5 congruent sides/angles = regular pentagon
6 congruent sides/angles = regular hexagon
...and so on, by adding "regular" in front of the shape's name.
Field is square ===> full perimeter travel time is 4 x (one side travel time) = 4 x 40 = 160sec = 2min 40sec 2min 20sec is 20sec short of the full perimeter = 1/2 of one-side travel time = 5 meters' travel time

How many decimeters cubed in a liter?
The answer is .9999750006 decimters cubed to one liter. Therefore, one liter is equal to exactly 1.000028 decimeters cubed. However, for practicallity's sake, this is usually rounded to 1. Therefore, for most applications (e.g. chemistry homework, etc.), one cubic decimeter is equal to one liter. In other words, decimeters cubed and liters are basically the same.

What is the acceleration of an object that moves at constant velocity?
It is called constant velocity. Rate is just another word for velocity. This, however, is dependant upon the path the object is taking. If it is moving in a parabolic path, or a curve of some sort (anything but a straight line), then the object is actually accelerating (as acceleration is a change in velocity OR direction.)
Do homeschooled kids have better grades than publicschooled kids?
You are asking the wrong question. It's not that Homeschool Kids or Private School kids are SMARTER than Public School kids --that's just ridiculous --
The answer is that Homeschool kids as well as Private School kids get a better education.
1. Homeschool allows your child to learn one on one. There are no distractions, no time limits, no time wasted on daily transportation. You also have control over the materials your child goes over. There are of course different types of homeschooling. For those people who believe that homeschool deprives your child of valuable relationships with other children -- well, those people are wrong. There are tons of networks for kids that learn at home and they do the usual field trips, meetings and playdate times -- but that doesn't really pertain to this particular question. Because of the one on one attention and the fact that they can dedicate even more time to their learning they tend to go through materials faster and they leave with a better understanding of it.
2. Private School, although still a very social alternative, also provides better education. The teachers are usually better qualified. The school that hires them requires more from them than your average public school and also gives them smaller classes so that children have more one on one attention. They also have tutors and learning centers that will help your child stay on track. The teachers have better salaries which in turn motivates them to actually teach the children instead of having them sit in class thinking about their petty salaries. Parents are also more involved in their child's education - when you are investing thousands of dollars a year for your child to learn, you tend to make it a priority to make sure that he/she does. I'm not saying that you don't care when they do go to public school, but when it hurts the wallet, parents seem to pay MORE attention.
3. Public Schools are overloaded with kids and each time they get more overloaded. They have tight budgets, not enough materials, outdated computers and programs and teachers that aren't sure they want to be there because of their low salaries. The personal attention goes to a few select students -- those who already stand out and excell at something on their own.
Also, the standards for advanced in a Public School are much lower than te standards for 'advanced' in a private school setting.
I can tell you this from my own personal experience. I went to Private School from pre-k to 5th grade. I was then homeschooled for 6th grade and went into Public School for 7th-12th.
I went through 6th grade in 3 months with a private homeschool teacher-- my grades were all between 96%-100% -- I passed grades 1-5 with straight A's.
I went to public school for 7th grade and they were learning what I had learned in 3rd.
I HATED SCHOOL. I thought my mom was punshing me and sent me to a 'special' school or something. They were SO FAR BEHIND. I did everything I could not to go in. I flunked 7th and 8th grade because I missed more than half the year. They made me go to summer school where I just took the tests, passed them and they sent me off to the next grade.
High School was better but they were just now tapping into what I had left off in 6th grade. Again, why am I doing in 10th grade what I already did in 6th. I was smarter that time though because High School allows you more freedom of choice with classes and placement. They let me test and I graduated high school at 16 years old.
I was NOT smarter than the other kids. I just received an A+ education in my early years.
I have two small girls now. I am NOT EVER sending them to Public School. We are going to homeschool for as long as humanly possible and if they later express an interest in going to actual school -- (and I mean after the age of 15) then I will be sure to put them in a private school -- even if I have to work two jobs to pay for it. You just can't compare.
I hope I have provided the information you were looking for.
Answer
Yes,base on study they are around 1 SD or above the mean of the public school kids. Therefore an average or above homeschooler would be in the top 16% of the class in there school year.
Previous Answer
I deleted it since its base on someone naive believe that ap class is a great obstacle that requires a great knowledge to overcome. Also the implication that public school is a great source for college credit, while implying that homeschoolers and private schools don't have the same thing, showing his/her obliviousness to homeschoolers often taking clep before 6th grade. Often entering college substantially earlier than there public school counterparts combined with alot of college credits. Heck, I didn't even heard of Clep while I was in school. I would've saved 3/4 of one semester if I did Clep.
