No your doctor knows what he/she is doing
xrays show the bones and their position
mri shows tendons,muscle,etc much more
do what your doctor orders to get a good diagnosis
soft tissue damage, cartalage tears, bruised bones tissue damage u might have to get surgary or just be in a wheel chair, crutches or cane, you ight just get a permanant limp
Can you get an MRI with an internal bone growth stimulator in your back?
If there is metal in the bone growth stimulator, absolutely not! The MRI has a giant magnet in side it. That is why the signs are posted all around the exam room to keep metals away from the area. New maintenance guy left a pipe-wrench lying on the table while he was doing something else. He left the room without it. The MRI was started up for a patient, the pipe-wrench came flying up off the table and slammed into the instrument and busted the outer layer of the entrance(where the patient lies for MRI), Now you tell me would you want to slam up against the top of the instrument?
No. Some doctors will order MRI with contrast to facilitate better imaging of some body structures. It is not absolutely necessary to have an IV for an MRI but if your doctor believes it is beneficial to have a the MRI with contrast then it best to consent and have the IV.
It depends on the individual. The older the individual the longer it will take to heal. Nonsurgical Treatment Treatment consists of rest, pain medications, and gradual walking with a walker or crutches. Improvement of symptoms may begin after one to two weeks of treatment. Most people are pain free in six to 12 months. Complete healing may occur after nine months. Most patients should have a full recovery. Water exercise may be recommended to allow movement. Bracing with a corset is sometimes helpful. Medications that are used to help the fracture heal include calcium (1200-1500mg) and Vitamin D (400-800 IU). Bisphoshonates such as Actonel, Fosamax and Boniva are used to treat osteoporosis. Calcitonin is also used to help with pain and healing of the bone when broken. Parathyroid hormone (PTH) replacement can also be beneficial. It increases both bone resorption and bone formation. Bone mineral density is increased, making the bone stronger. For pain, narcotics or opioids can be helpful. Some doctors feel that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID) such as Aleve or Ibuprofen should not be used for at least three to four weeks after a new fracture. Some studies have shown that they can slow fracture healing. Your doctor may want you to have physical therapy to help with your pain. Heat, gentle massage, and electrical stimulation, or TENS units may improve pain. Surgery Surgical treatment is rare with sacral insufficiency fractures. A newer treatment that shows some promise in relieving pain and allowing more normal activity sooner is called a sacroplasty.
Tell your friend to just chill out and go for the test. Please don't cancel it could really be dangerous. Get her/him to ask the doctor for a Zanax to help relieve the anxiety of it all. The family doctor will help with the nervousness. Good luck pray all goes well.
When the MRI reads a heterogeneous signal what does that mean?
What does heterogeneous signal mean within pancreas
What does no focal bony signal abnormalities are demonstrated mean?
what does generalised osteopenia of the bones means
If femur is implanted with rod then can we go through the MRI scan for disc problem?
Almost certainly. Most orthopaedic metalwork is compatible with MRI scanners and large items such as a rod in the femur don't pose a particular problem as they are fixed in place and won't move. It would be wise to check with the MRI staff and/or the orthopaedic surgeons, however.
What can you have done instead of an MRI scan as you are scared to be put into small spaces?
There are some MRI machines that are open. Look around in your area to see if there is one available. In some cases, your doctor can prescribe medication to make you more relaxed during the test.
Depending on the clinical symptoms you are experiencing, this can mean different things. In general, this means there is some inflammatory process occurring in that area. If there was trauma, it can indicate an area of bone remodeling from a fracture. If there is fever or a wound overlying the affected area, it can indicate osteomyelitis, an infection involving the bone.
Where might one find employment running an MRI machine?
One might find employment running an MRI machine at a local hospital. In order to qualify for a job like this, one should get at least an Associate's degree as an X-Ray technician.
Do you feel weird after an MRI scan?
Usually, no. An MRI is just magnetic waves that travel through your body to produce a high-resolution image. However, if contrast (or dye) is used, you may feel a bit of a flushing feeling, or a warmth that runs through your body.
If you have any serious reactions to the MRI or the contrast, see your doctor immediately or dial 9-1-1 if in the United States.
Check with the doctor, but more likely the cause is age related and you are fat, perhaps you listen to loud rock music or are dog?
no. but go for it somebody might believe you. Answer Phone use is not typically considered as a reason for hearing loss. However, my father-in-law worked for Ma Bell for 40 years. Through disscussions with him, I learned that phone operaters that worked in the early years for Ma Bell, often did end up with a hearing loss. There is an ancedotal connection between phone operators in the 40-60s and the development of long-term hearing loss. I have several patients whose only work history with exposure to loud sounds came from the phone industry years ago. Even so their only recourse was to wear hearing aids.
Most likely a meniscus tear or possibly evidence of a previous surgery.
What does lumbosacral junction is assumed l5 s1 mean?
Your spinal cord is made up of 5 different areas, based on how many vertebrae (pieces of spine) make it up.
You have:
7 CERVICAL
12 THORACIC
5 LUMBAR
5 SACRAL
5 COCCYGEAL
Therefore the lumbosacral junction (where lumbar meets sacral) is assumed to be at L5 (the 5th and last lumbar vertebrae) and S1 (the 1st sacral vertebrae).
Why would a Disc appear black on mri?
It depend on the specific MRI sequence, but the likely cause would be dehydration of the disc. This is usually caused by disc disease and can lead to other problems such as disc herniations or subluxation.
What is a cardiac MRI used for?
A Cardiac MRI is used for diagnosing and assessing many conditions related to the heart and major blood vessels. These can include heart disease and heart valve problems.
If mri is magnetic resonance imaging what does mrb stand for?
As far as I know MRB is not a general abbreviation in MR, but it is the short form of Magnetic-Resonance Bavaria (MRB), which is a research center in Germany dedicated to magnetic resonance.
How did magnetic resonance imaging develop?
dramatic advances in computer technologies, especially the development of mathematical algorithms powerful enough to allow difficult equations to be solved quickly, allowed MRI to develop into an important diagnostic clinical tool
