The Eiffel Tower was finished being built in 1889. The opening date was May 15th, 1889. The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition, which celebrated the French Revolution. Gustave Eiffel designed the Tower, along with Emile Nougier, and Maurice Koechlin. The main architect was Stephen Sauvestre. Before the Tower was built, a total of 50 engineers designed 2,500 blueprints. The work on the Eiffel Tower started in the summer of 1887, and finished in the early Spring of 1889.

the Eiffel tower is made of long steel beams which allows it to withstand storms and such. the tower is more than five million pounds, which holds it to the ground. all of the different parts of the tower are attached together tightly, not sure what holds it together though. but it must be strong as diamonds to be so enormous and stable.

King Louis XIV, who reigned longer than any other King in history, had big ideas. The village is charming. The park and gardens were laid out by Le Nôtre, the greatest of all French gardeners, and Marie Antoinette and are full of statues, fountains, arcades, grottoes and temples. the fountains are turned on only a few times a year. Even in Louis XIV's time there was never enough water, so they turned on only the ones the King could see from wherever he happened to be standing. Entrance to the park is free except when the fountains are on. The Palace is a State Museum, so free to students; some rooms are simply open, others part of a guided tour. There is a monorail line that is right next to the magic Kindgdom. There are 3 resorts that run along it Contemporary (also has a walking path), Polynesian Resort, and Grand floridian ( the most expensive). If you don't mind a 5 minute short boat ride Wilderness lodge is another option. They are located behing the contemporary (mind you it's not walking distance) but it is significantly cheaper to stay here than the contemporary, polynesian, or Grand floridian. Paris is a beautiful city with a history of prestige and grandeur, and French people put a lot of effort in preserving the glory they once had in the past. The Eiffel Tower sure contributes to its popularity, but I think even if the Eiffel Tower never existed people would still come to see the beautiful palaces, city architecture, historical places, the gastronomy, the language, the arts, the culture and the lifestyle. There is just something very attractive in that package.

I personally lived in Europe for 3 years and visited Paris once. Some of my most memorable moments that don't include the Eiffel Tower includes a leisurely stroll in the park where a lot of art students are offering to sketch me to earn some extra money. Then we sat down for a lively performance of magic and comedy while waiting for the sun to set. Dinner was escargot with generous flows of wine and a cheese platter dessert. The walk home was adorned with city lights over beautiful bridges and statues and monuments, and a fiddler was playing beautiful classical music on the side of the road. That is certainly an experience you don't get in many other places in the world. Or even if you do experience something similar, nothing can really compare to Paris's authenticity.

To know what I mean you really have to visit Paris yourself. Not because I'm a fan of the city, but because trying to describe this feeling to you is a little bit like trying to describe how cinnamon tastes to a person who has never tasted cinnamon before. Some people will love it, others will loathe it, but it's only by experiencing it firsthand that they can know how it exactly feels.

If you happen to have the possibility to travel off-season, visit Paris in May, June, September. You will save some money and some time waiting in the queues at museums. Summer is also an agreeable period to visit, but in fact tourist attractions and landmark sites never close whatever the season.
