Yes, there are some very nice places. The more north you go and into the islands, the more friendly it gets i think. I live in Aberdeen and i can certainly say that it is a very nice place. I used to live in Glasgow and there was a lot of crime and violence during the nights. I have a friend who lives in Shetland and one who lives in Barra, and when i go to visit them all of the neighbours know each other and it is really friendly :) I really would recommend Scotland, if you are not sure about living there.
