What is the relations between England and Spain?
The relationship gets a little tense when the subject of Gibraltar comes up.
Spain ceded the Territory to England with the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713 and now they want it back.
Neither the UK, nor the inhabitants of Gibraltar agree.
At one time Gibraltar was a very important strategic choke point for maritime shipping. I suspect it is less so now so that should not be so much of a concern to the UK. I do not think there is any good reason for either one of them to covet the place now except stubborn pride. It would seem that maybe the wishes of the Gibraltarians should be the primary consideration now.
