Witchcraft

This is the category where your questions about witches and witchcraft as a spiritual path should go. Based on an ancient shamanistic way of life, witchcraft is a spiritual system known as "The Craft of the Wise" and were a valuable part of villages and communities. Practitioners were the healers and leaders of their people. Modern witches follow the cycles of the sun, the moon and the seasons of the earth for guidance and knowledge. Most, but not all witches practice some form of magic in its true meaning.

Is there a spell book that really works?

Any Spell book/grimoire/book of shadow made by a practicing witch (current or past) is very real.

It is the magical work-book, accumulated knowledge, and sometimes magical journal of someone who researches, writes and performs their own magic.

The spells are specific to the needs and requirements of the writer, the people he/she works with or for and the specific path the writer follows.

My own library has nine of these grimoires, five of which are hand written by my ancestors and those of my teachers. Two (1 handwritten, 1 computerized) are from practitioner who were friends of mine before their passing and the last two are mine.

The ones I did not write myself are used for research, often I find a bit of knowledge, an herb or an incantation that I did not know before, and I file the information for a future need of my own.

I do not use the entire spells as they are written, as they are specific to the person and need they were written fo, but i do on occasion adapt them to my own needs, when I can.

What is a witches animal friend called?

Usually they are simply a pet. However, my first cat came to me at the same time I began studying witch craft (I've always been a spell caster and witch but I began studying the history and practices of other witches a few years ago) because of this I refer to her as my familiar. Usually a familiar is an animal that holds a special place in a witches life and craft.

Characteristics of a witch?

There are no signs of being a witch. On any given day you have most likely encountered one or more people who call and/or consider themselves a witch.

There are no marks, tattoos, clothing, jewelry, hairstyles, secret handshakes, or other outward ways of telling a practitioner from someone who is not.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is misleading you.

Does the insouciant spell really work If not what is a spell that works for real?

No spells will work. They are not real.

Another Opinion

Spells are complex things developed by practitioners with years and years of experience, research, and practical experience.

Most spells are things we do for ourselves, although some are done at the request of, and for others.

A transformation spell, one that changes a person or thing into someone/thing else, is not practical, ethical or in this case possible.

This does not mean that there are no such things as spells, just that this particular transformation spell does not.

Much as it is wonderful to wish and imagine life in some other form, the dangers and difficulties vastly outweigh any "fun" you might perceive.

When you are born into your human form, it takes nine months for you to develop your form, and then years and years to learn to live within that form.

Babies aren't born walking and talking and knowing their language, culture, history and basic social etiquette.

Transforming into something else, even if that something else was not a mythical creature, would mean horrible pain, and trauma to your body and mind.

Then you would have to learn all the language, social interactions, taboos, etc. not to mention the motor skills to even basically function.

It is better in the long run, to find ways to be happy and enjoy the form you currently inhabit. Use your imagination to "play" with the ideas of being someone/thing else, and find ways to fulfill your reason for being born into this form.

How do you spell rediculous?

This really depends on what you are looking for. I enjoy the monthly plan I have because I know exactly what I have each month and it stays the same. However, if you use a prepaid phone and add your own minutes and plan to the phone, oftentimes there is not a long term contract involved which is nice if you want to change things up.

Is there a spell that can make you control water fire earth and air?

A Spell is a set of words that helps to set the mind for the actual casting of spell. Spell casing is much more complex than uttering the set of words. It is an act of mind power.

By living itself, you are controlling the elements in your body. It is also a spell we all do, all the time. So basically, being able to control fire/water/earth/air is a mindset. If you have the right mindset the potential to "control" fire or other elements is definitely possible. Take a look at the related links in the article to see how some people have the ability to control fire:

The most common modern spelling is de Standún or just Standún.

What are witchcraft and Wicca must haves?

Firstly, it depends upon nwhether you're a witch, Wiccan, or both. It also depends upon what things interest you; for instance herbs, oils, stones, energy-working, candle magick, etc.

I always recommend books; no matter what you want to delve into, books are the best resource coupled with the Internet. If you are a witch maybe you could start by buying a few essentials. Herbs (lavender, rosemary, thyme, etc, are a good starting point) essential oils, candles...whatever takes your fancy, where you pull from. A pentacle would be good and if Wiccan, your God/Goddess representation.

For those who use magick I would recommend Tarot cards, a pendulum, runes, a scrying ball/glass, as well as various odds and ends. Remember, at the end of the day, you are the largest instrument, in more ways than the literal one. You determine your life. Lavendar oil can't work its magick unless you're there to wield it.

Why will a witch float?

What kind of qustion is that?!!! Firt Witches are NOT real!! And two I am sure that if they aren't real, they can't float because they don't exisist. == The reality was that a witch would float because he or she was smart enough to know how not to drown. It was the exhibition of this sort of cleverness and common sense that caused the persecution of knowledgeble people. Wise people are more difficult to control and keep down, and the persecution of "witches" was all about keeping power in the hands of the few church members who controlled it.

What is Scotland's connection to witches?

Your question is too vague. If you are asking if witches and witchcraft are a part of Scottish history and culture then then answer is yes.

What site can you go to learn magic?

If you mean the sort of magic that stage magicians perform, then you may find the following links useful.

If however you mean Magick as opposed to magic, this is not something that can be learned from a website or from a book. Rather it is an ongoing process of learning and doing. There are many good books which will give you an introduction to the subject, and you can find them on your local bookstore's "Paganism/ New Age/ Spirituality" shelves.
