An angiogram is different because a fluorescent dye is injected into the artery which then increases the contrast of tissue, veins, etc etc. as opposed to simple X-Rays which only take an 'aerial' view of the bones and muscles.

In conclusion, an angiogram makes virtually everything it touches more visible for Doctors to see like blockages in the patients heart, unlike X-Rays which do not allow such visability and are not as concentrated.
