Can Adderall cause depression in children?

Important disclaimer! Please read!

All of the answers given below are simply personal experiences. Everyone will react differently to different types of drugs.

If you are seeking valid medical advice it cannot be stressed enough that you should consult your own physician rather than relying on information provided here.

One answer:

Yes, it can.I used to take adderall for my ADD when i was younger about seven too nine, i stopped because my schoolwork improved. I'm seventeen right now and i haven't been prescribed to adderall since then. I have however abused it a few times. Due to my lack of good grades last year my mom put me back on it and ever since i have been feeling really not myself and lonely all around even when i have all my friends around me. I'm about to get off it and i'v only been taking it for five days.

I have been sad and all before, but not for like no reason like i have been. If you are feeling depressed, you should stop taking it and talk to your doctor. I am soon.

ANOTHER ANSWER

Both girls above are right. Yes, adderall CAN cause depression, however, it can only cause depression to a certain point. If you were ever really depressed before taking adderall you MUST see a doctor, because they are really the only ones who can help.

I am a 24 year old successful female working in the professional world. I have never really been depressed or had suicidal thoughts - besides the normal "teenage depression." I started taking adderall last November and here's what I have realized... please note this OPINION (and anyone who is not a doctor can only tell you opinions - you must talk to a doctor to receive any real help)

I started taking adderall last November. Ever since high school my teachers thought I had some problems with focusing, but I never wanted to seek medical help because "I wanted to prove I could do it on my own." And I actually made it pretty far on my own, farther than most people could. I will not say at what point I sought help, because it's all relative when an individual needs help. But you know when it gets to that point, so do yourself a favor and go see a doctor.

Anyways, the doctor prescribed adderall xr (20mg). I took it probably 4-5 times a week (even though I hate relying on drugs) and I was okay on the 20 mg. Again, in hindsight, I admit that at the point I started taking adderall, I can see now that, I started feeling "down" almost immediately. I should warn people, however, that others could feel immediately depressed at this point, and if you do, it's because of the adderall. I only felt "down" and not "depressed" because I tried to stay rationale about the situation.

Anyways, in January, my doctor was out of town and the replacement doctor wrote a prescription. This doctor, however, accidently wrote the prescription for 30 mg instead of 20mg.

Again, when all was said and done, I take this as god's gift, because it turns out that I had serious side effects from adderall, more than I ever realized. On the 30mgs, my tongue became ENORMOUSLY swollen, my throat was constantly 24/7 sore, and my hands felt stiff, as well as did the rest of my body. I had serious physical reactions to the increased dosage. Additionally, at that time, I became really down on life. If you gave me the choice of talking to my best friend in the world, or sitting at home alone, I would chose sitting at home alone. Literally, I was not in a very good state of mind. I won't say that I had suicidal thoughts, because I'm not personally that type of person. But I guarantee you that anyone else in my situation would have had thoughts of suicide. I was just that down on life/school/friends/everything.

Well after a rather short, abrupt, and rude message from my doctor regarding a separate issue, but somewhat related, I began researching adderall more in depth and FINALLY had the epiphany that I hope all you other women out there will have from reading this...adderall CAN cause depression. Some women, like myself and apparently like the second woman who responded to this question, can handle it better than other women. And that's nothing to be ashamed of. I grew up around all boys what can you expect?!?!

So if, after writing down a time-line of when you started taking adderall and when you started feeling the thoughts and feelings that you do, you realize that adderall might possibly be the cause, PLEASE schedule an appointment with a doctor. There are other medications out there that can help you, and might actually even perform BETTER than adderall given your personal characteristics.

Just don't get down and out about life too badly. And if you are, realize that it actually might be the adderall. When you stop taking it, you will feel a lot better, and you can find another medication (maybe even something herbal) that will be able to help you focus.

Your mental health is more important than your physical health, don't play with your mind and don't let adderall do it either. Get help and everything will be okay =) And don't listen to anyone who tells you that adderall doesn't cause depression. Take it from me, it can and it does.

Another answer:

One of the problems with a focus-oriented medication such as adderall is it can encourage you to "dwell" on things. If you've got anything in your life that is seriously upsetting you (such as a time-consuming relationship, overwhelming work project, and so on) you can expect to REALLY dwell on it. Just a word of caution.

You two are both wrong, i am a 15 year old male on 20 mg of adderall xr, but i am taking 40 to 80 mg instead. the reason y adderall causes depression is because it releases dopeamine in ur brain while ur on the drug, but after it clears your system ur dopeamine is not flowing through u naturally. i am actually coming off a adderall withdrawl, i ran out about 3 days ago, i can tell u i didn't have any suicidel thoughts, and my situation was probly 10 times worse than the ppl above, but how ever it was 2 weeks and 3 days since i had last slept, i also snapped in anger, i felt so alone, i was hallucinateing since i had been up for a long time, i thought about god and life, and other things. i got in idk how many fights at my neighborhood market those 3days. but it was the worst feeling in the world. it even got to the point of physical damage such as kidney pain, extreme migranes, extreme chest pain etc. and also since i had been doing it everyday for weeks, popping one pill after another, my dopeamine ran out completely, so i wasn't even getting a buzz when i got more, but i had to take it or i'd get physical pain, and anxiety depression attacks.

but despite of all that, there are ways to help u through those withdrawl stages, but u have to pre plan them, cause if u get in the state that me and I'm sure many other where in, there will be no conviencing urself to help urself or get help. one way i got through it, was hard vigorus exerciseing,(which releases endorphins in the brain) then was taking long walks around the city, to places maybe u haven't or wouldn't go to normally. anything that keeps u from sitting around thinking to much will work. but like i said it has to be pre planned, or u will not do it if u snap. so that is what i have to say, and to the girl above, u didn't handle it better than anyone else would, u actually didn't even see a dent of the psychological pain of adderall withdrawl. if u where in my shoes a couple days ago u prolly would have had suicidel thoughts, cause no matter how strong u think ur mind is, or what kind of person u think u are, u find out real quik with my type of withdrawl level that u are way weaker mentally than u think u are, u realize that little chemicals in the brain control who u are and how quickly they can change on u, even when i am normal that thought depresses me. I'm 15 years old and ur 24 and i have prolly seen and lived way more than u have, and i probly know alot more about ppl and other things that we shouldn't know, and i don't say that totally in a bragging manner, cause its like a curse when u come to a point when ur looking at ur self from another state of mind that u have never seen in ur self before, and it makes u wonder, what other states of mind am i capable of stepping into. not a good thought, ppl wonder how other ppl can kill and stuff, and they will never know until they have been in that state of mind. but i can understand cause with the help of adderall and other amphetamines, i have stepped into those states. and they really really seriously blow.

Another answer:

Okay for the 15 year old boy above ^^^^ , I am sorry buddy but you don't know the first thing about life. I remember, I was just like you when I was your age: young, naive, careless, narcissistic, etc. etc. and basically very unintelligent when it comes to know fact from opinion. First off, please do not try to sound intelligent if you can't even type it correctly. Second, enough with the mr. know-it-all bulls***. Like I said, I was just like you and stuck in my own thoughts and beliefs but trust me kid..once you grow up and have to deal with the real aspects of life, then you will know what I am talking about. I do not doubt that you have developed a severe physical and psychological addiction to Adderall. Did you stop to think that maybe that is evidence of how much stupidity you hold inside your peanut head? Another thing, get help. I would if I were you, so if you haven't already, Get help! You even thinking about killing or doing mindless things while under the influence or on your dopamine rush? I am going to end this blog with a spelling lesson for you. As seen above this sentence..it is spelt "Dopamine"second it is called "withdrawal" not withdrawl psh! shows how much you know about drugs and addiction. Continuing on, I do not know where you get an E in the word "taking" but throw that outta your mind...if it all possible. I would write a book if I were to keep going on about your poor grammar skills. It is no wonder you are on adderall. ALSO, (gosh I'm getting tired of this) you are not superman. Therefore, there is no 2.5 weeks of not sleeping happening to a 15 year old kid. Maybe for a trained professional sleep deprivation expert...if there was such a person but even then, I believe..(key word BELIEVE, meaning I might not be totally correct so I am okay with that..I realize that I may be wrong sometimes) I believe that that world record for longest straight running time without sleep is only 2 weeks. So show me your yearbook picture that Guinness book of world records used please! If you have further questions, you may email me at geahanse@msu.edu and I will be happy to straighten you up.

Another answer:

Ok well first of all the last two people seem pretty ignorant to me. Having poor grammar and spelling skills doesn't necessarily mean your dumb by any means.... I've always heard that intelligent people aren't very good spellers anyways and just because someone can't spell "withdrawal" doesn't mean that they are ignorant about drugs and addiction... also i seriously doubt that that boy went longer than two weeks without sleep... it is possible to die from sleep deprivation... like the girl above I'm not sure how long it takes but it is possible... but if you are actually telling the truth and were somehow able to go that long without sleep your "withdrawal symptoms" may just be from your lack of sleep... not only would you have hallucinations but you would be irritable and pretty much on the verge of insanity... sleep is when your body repairs itself so i can only imagine how much damage you've done to yourself.... also little boy you do come off as bragging about how mentally unstable you have been believe me its no accomplishment especially if you brought it on yourself... try having to live the rest of your life struggling with bipolar... its not easy... the one and only benefit ( if you can even call it that) of having been mentally unstable is that you can better understand what people are going through... it makes you a little more open minded... and to the girl above #1 its also not an accomplishment that you made it "farther than most people could" it takes a strong person to admit they need help depriving yourself of help or treatment just makes things harder on you... there's no shame in having ADD or ADHD your brain just works differently than other people and trying to handle it on your own is stubborn... its not something you can improve on on your own.... and #2 you can't just prevent yourself from being depressed or having suicidal thoughts... its a chemical imbalance that you have no control over... now there are ways to cope and therapies such as cognitive therapy that help change the way you perceive things but as far as not "letting" yourself get depressed because you were "rationale about the situation" is crap.... but back to the original question... I'm 23 years old and have been taking adderall for 5 years now... i take 40mg immediate action in the morning and 20mg in the afternoon... you are not suppose to exceed 60mg a day (although i have) I've never experienced any withdrawal symptoms when i don't take it and adderall actually makes me happier... I'm actually motivated, calmer, and i have more patience. The only thing that sucks about it for me is the dry mouth and i clinch my teeth. My point is that everyone reacts differently to certain medications and while taking a controlled substance such as adderall you should be under the supervision of a doctor at all times... personally i feel that there are better medications out there that aren't stimulants and are safer so if you are unhappy with the effects of adderall there are other options... for me adderall works great... i am way more productive and happy when I'm on it but if you are feeling depressed only a doctor can help you.

Another answer:

Actually... You're all RIGHT. Even the poor grammar kid. You all said see a doctor. You all said to get help. The only difference in your explanations was your personal experiences, and apparently (since the woman above me needed to dwell on it for a life long paragraph) your grammar skills or a crash judgment on intellect or competence. Calling someone ignorant without even knowing them is pretty ignorant yourself dahlin. This isn't a forum to analyze other ppl's issues and say what is right and what is wrong. What works for you/what is right for you, is probably not right for your neighbor or the woman you're talking to across the country. Sorry dear, but I'm sure these ppl don't really care what you have to say about THEIR lives.

The effects of any kind of drug are different on every person. Somethin doesn't seem right to you... See somebody. Tell somebody who can point you in the right direction if you don't think you can get yourself to the doctor. Take control of your own life or you'll never get out alive.

Another answer:

I have heard of people getting depressed after beginning an adderall medication routine. However, several of these stories mention a relatively short trial time. These side effects often go away after the body become acclimated to the medication.

As a user of Adderall XR, my medication was actualliy prescribed to treat my depression. Side effects can however vary within patients as can general response. I personally am inclined to bouts of depression the first day of skipping a dosage and thereafter stabilize.

What is a legal alternative to Adderall?

The legal alternatives never do exactly the same effects. Marijuana is unique...

The herbal mix that are sold in stores usually don't do anything, they are just fun to smoke and they taste interesting.

You can try smoking mugwort, sage or damiana. Those plants i know have relaxing and meditative effects when smoked. See a more complete list in "related links" below.

What are the side effects if you drink alcohol while taking 40Mg of Adderall XR daily?

Mixing Adderall with Alcohol:
  • One drink won't hurt, but if you are out drinking with friends or drink every day the two simply don't mix. The alcohol can enhance or take away the effects of the drug.
  • I recently started my prescription for adderall. I take 20 mg xr and I didn't even think about it this evening when we went to a local brew pub party. I'm not much of a drinker, but I did have probably 3-4 glasses, which is more than enough for me, and I experienced no ill side effects. I don't think I am "more alert" than I would have been without taking the adderall, but I am very irritable. I'm usually a "happy" drinker, but when I got home and tried to call my husband at the party, when he didn't answer I became very angry (not normal) and I was hostile. I'm sure that everyone reacts different, and perhaps that wouldn't happen to someone else, but that was a weird enough experience for me to look this up and see what other people say. As for mixing the two, I don't think I would be afraid to do it again, but I might remember that I get angry instead of happy and try to control that.
  • Personally I find that drinking alcohol while taking stimulants isn't a pleasant experience. Instead of feeling happy and fun instead I feel tired, heavy, and slow. I can tell when the alcohol wears off (after drinking only one or two drinks) because I suddenly feel much better. They don't go well together as one is a depressant and the other a stimulant. It's like your brain is a rubber band and being pulled in both directions.

Can you take Adderall and oxycodone together?

i did, and it turned out all right. do it in moderation first take cautions its the only body you get

I took 40mg of Adderall and 60mg Oxycodone simultaneously, daily for 7 years. I had regular, very-inclusive, monthly blood tests and physical exams the entire time, and never came up with any issues. I no longer take the Oxycodone, however I now take 60mg Adderall with the regular exams and tests, and I personally have no attributable issues. This is only my personal experience. Individual results can and will vary. Be certain your doctor is aware of any substances you consume, prescribed, legal or otherwise. Im on both as we speak, the 60 mgs adderall explains me up typing at 4 30 am and i took 60 mgs oxycodone an hour before the adderall. im perscribed 1 of the 2 and use the other 3-5 times a month so i guess i went the illegal route but ill live. its nice having a doctor as a fiance so i dont have to inform my real doc about my naughty little drug habbits...

Can you take Wellbutrin xanax and adderall xr together?

I have taken Wellbutrin XL 300 mg and Adderall XR 20 mg and I did feel the adderall work. Personally Wellbutrin has never done anything for me. After 4 months of being on it my physician and I decided to switch to Adderall XR 20. This is the second day I have been taking Adderall and I accidentally took my Wellbutrin out of habit and I have not felt any different then yesterday. Adderall is a great drug. I'm on day two and I'm very very optimistic about the future. However if you are older and/or have had heart problems and/or ceasures this could be a fatal mistake. Be careful when mixing drugs but if your young and your just trying to get high then you'll be just fine. Personally I would do the xanax separate from the others just because xanax is so intense that you wouldn't even feel the effects of the other drugs. Good luck, Be safe, and Have fun!!!

Will robitussin make you fail a drug test?

Any current drug may show up during lab testing. Specific tests of blood or urine are only testing for certain things ... those tests usually ignore the things that the tests are not looking for.

What kind of people use adderall?

Anyone and everyone! That is why you must be moderate in your intake of this medication. It is easy to become addicted to it, and then to take more and more than is diagnosed by your doctor. One strategy -- if you are overdoing

it -- is to cease taking it for a week to 10 days. Then when you resume it, you will again experience the same benefits at or near the original dose. Good luck!

How long will 300mg of adderall stay in your system?

It takes 12 hours after your last dose of Adderall for it to be "out of your system" meaning only trace amounts are found in blood and all other bodily fluids, regardless of dose. After 12 hours your brain begins to recover so you'll be able to sleep easily but cognitive functions won't be fully returned to the condition they were in before the 120mg until 48-72hrs after the dose. If for some reason your concern is a drug test, Adderall isn't detected in urine beyond that 1-3 days. If its restful and regenerativesleep you're after, which is more likely, then the aforementioned 12 hour mark is very accurate. It may seem like an exaggeration but from my experience its impossible to fall asleep, and stay asleep until approximately 12 hours after. This of course is with out the aid of other substances such as: alcohol, OTC sleep aids, marijuana, Ambien, Clonidine etc. - which tend complicate things further.

Is it okay to combine Adderall and Ritalin?

Short answer... no. Long answer... yes

I am a med student and I understand that not everybody understands med terminology. I will try to break this down as simply as possible, giving you only what you need to know, and not what you don't. If you want to know how all this works, I suggest Google, or perhaps taking a Chemistry class.

Short answer explanation: Mixing drugs is never a good idea, especially when no formal training or experience has been plugged into the equation. The best thing you can do is stay away from mixing or taking drugs that are not prescribed by a physician

Long answer explanation: Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a stimulant that is almost identical to street cocaine, and our body is unable to tell the difference between the two. This upper sends your body into an up regulation of all systems including blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, etc. among many other things. Tylenol 3 (acetaminophen with 30 mg codeine) is designed to be a pain killer. It does this through the inhibition of prostaglandins through cyclooxygenase. Not going to get into what number of PG's or what number of COX, just know that this is how it works on a basic level.

So we have a stimulant and a pain killer. Taken in a small enough dose, most likely a slight feeling of euphoria will occur. Taken in a high enough dose, a feeling closer to taking MDMA (ecstasy) will occur. Warmness, tingling, euphoria, and an ope mind-heart will occur. Taken in too high of a dose, death will surely occur as both these drugs can, and have been in the past, easily overdosed on

Think of mixing these two drugs like mixing orange juice and milk. One is acidic, the other is basic. Sounds gross, but look at the creamsicle, it works right? Drugs can work great in unison, they just need to be monitored and set up by somebody who knows what they are doing. I tell anybody who asks me "never mess around with drugs... but if you are going to do it no matter what I say, at least run it by me so I can tell you if you have a winner or a loser of an idea". If you don't understand drug half lifes, and drug interactions, adverse reactions, or how to monitor vital signs, I don't suggest you do this. However, if you have a friend or if you yourself have been training in this field, I say experiment! I have learned alot about pharmacology by just experimenting on myself in small loading doses trying to see what would happen by mixing different drugs. I can honestly say, Ritalin and Tylenol 3 is one of the better combonations out there, but there are combonations I have discovered that mimic MDMA much better, I have even found a few that mimic LSD and being REALLY drunk from alcohol without drinking at all.

Have fun, be safe, and remember... if you're not trained, don't fool around!

Adult dosage of Adderall xr?

No idea what you're asking, but adults do take adderall, and can range in dosage depending on ... a lot. (once a day or twice a day as well)

Is it ok to take adderall while going through suboxone withdrawl?

It's different for everyone and can be a hit or miss. If it helps it's usually with the mental aspect. Not the physical.

Can you take 40mg of adderall if you aren't prescribed?

Legally speaking, could be very bad. (It's illegal...)

Generally/practically speaking, this is like asking if it is bad to take any drug if it is not prescribed to you.

In other words, it is good to get an official diagnosis. Despite the bad wrap they get, most Psy-docs (neurologists included) know what they're doing. In most cases, I have had the best results with drugs that were prescribed by my neurologist as opposed to those I thought would work for me but didn't work as well (Provigil, for example).

Adderall and the other ADD/HD drugs might not really help those who don't have issues concentrating? For example, my mom's reaction to a stimulant was completely opposite to my own (drove her "up the wall," yet calmed me down).

Hope this helps...

What happens to you physically when you take a lethal dose of Adderall?

The symptoms depend on the severity of the over dose. One symptom that will most likely be present even in low scale overdoses is Insomnia. This is usually coupled by Euphoria, talking very often/quite fast, An increase in body temperature, mild to excessive sweating, severe loss of appetite, Rapid heart beat, and an unusual change in behavior. These are some of the most common symptoms of a small to medium overdose which I would say would be 1 to 4 pills more then your prescribed dose. Usually the effects will gradually were off and you will be fine you should however consult a doctor if you are seriously worried or go to your local emergency room. With a larger overdose things get a lot more serious. The effects can include all of the afore mentioned symptoms and one or all of the following. Extreme rapid heartbeat and/or Arrhythmia leading to either cardiac arrest or in rare cases the heart literally rips a hole in itself, Either way you die. Amphetamine induced Psychosis/Paranoia including hallucinations and delusions with a loss of control of your actions. And finally massive Seizures resulting in death. You should definitely call 911 if you experience any of the major over dose symptoms or you will probably die. I'm not a doctor but this is usually the effects of an overdose. This should not be substituted for actual medical advise/attention. Amphetamines can be very dangerous and unpredictable at times. for more information on this and other drugs I suggest you visit the link below which contains a cornucopia of information regarding this and other substances.

Can you take diet supplements such as Hoodia while on accutane?

There are anecdotal reports of weight loss while taking accutane for acne. You should read carefully the information that is available on the Internet regarding diet while on accutane. Generallly speaking, you need to avoid foods that will increase the intake of the retenoid form of Vitamin A -- liver and dairy (milk and cheese) while on accutane. Otherwise, you are likely to increase the undesired side effects. Take a careful look at what is in the "hoodia" supplement you are taking. Consult your physician or pharmacist if you have any further questions.

Is it safe to take hydroxycut and Adderall?

Be very cautious with dietary supplements.... they don't have any FDA oversight, and there are a lot of false claims, conterfeit products, and uncertain doses (the amount of "drug" in a capsule isn't regulated) out there. I don't know the MOA (mechanism of action) of Hoodia, but most weight lossproducts work, in part, by raising heart rate and blood pressure. Adderall can do that to, so it's a double whammie. There is NO effective "magic bullet" pill for weight loss. Diet and exercise, and permanent lifestyle change. Among all uniquehoodia is more better. With COA documentation to prove that it is one of the ONLY products to contain nothing but pure hoodia, this is one powerful appetite Good luck.

Will Adderall show up on a drug test?

Yes. Adderall is an amphetamine. It will show up in a drug test. They can do another test to tell whether you were using Adderall or crystal meth. It takes 55 hours for Adderall to leave your system completely.

Can you take Accutane while taking Adderall?

It's not a good idea to ask strangers (and "non-pharmacists") if it's safe to take two different prescribed meds. However, Check out this drug interactions site and "plug in" the two drugs you mentioned. http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/ChooseDrugs/1,4109,,00.html

I took Adderall while taking a 6 month course of accutane with no ill effects.

How long does Adderall work in your system?

The average elimination half-life is the period of time it takes for a substance undergoing decay to decrease by half. In adults for dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine is 10 hours and 13 hours respectively. So basically it means in 20 to 26 hours. I would give it at least 48 hours.

A drug test can tell the difference if sent to a lab other wise the test will show up as just an unknown amphetamine. So if you're going to be tested by probation or for court they will tell the difference because it will be sent to a lab for further testing, as to where a home test (that is not being sent out) or job will not specify which amphetamine it is.

Specifically, Adderall XR consists of the following amphetamine compounds in equal proportions: dextroamphetamine saccharate, dextroamphetamine sulfate, racemic amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, and racemic amphetamine sulfate.

Breakdown rates are affected by many factors including urinary and stomach pH, weight, gender, other medications being taken, and age. Alkalinity increases bioavailability and acidity causes the drug to be excreted sooner.

Manufacturers claim that the mixture of salts in Adderall XR makes its effects smoother (that is, makes softer highs and lows). The mixture of salts and their ratios are as follows:

  • 1/4 dextroamphetamine saccharate
  • 1/4 dextroamphetamine sulfate
  • 1/4 (racemic dextro/levo-)amphetamine aspartate monohydrate
  • 1/4 (racemic dextro/levo-)amphetamine sulfate

These four salts are metabolized at different rates and possess diverse half lives (citation needed), therefore resulting in a less dramatic onset and termination of therapeutic action, as compared to single-salt amphetamine preparations (citation needed)

Adderall is available as an instant release ("IR") as well as an extended release ("XR") drug

The immediate release formulation is indecated for use in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy, while the XR formulation is approved for use only with ADHD. In the United States, Adderall is a Schedule II drug under the Controlled Substance Act due to having significant abuse and addiction potential.

The difference between the two is this: levomethamphetamine is approximately 28% of the drug Adderall (racemic amphetamine salt mixture), while 72% of the drug is dextroamphetamine.

Can you inject Adderall or Ritalin and if not why?

Yes, if you had pure Ritalin it can be injected however injecting Ritalin (methylphenidate) from any tablet without proper purification would be highly dangerous as there are many other ingredients in those tablets which would need to be filtered out.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

While the above answer is correct, despite the fact you will do what you want regardless, some additional information may make one or two people think twice and justify the effort.

If you read the prescribing information for methylphenidate HLC several important points are made. Most important being that methylphenidate HCL is freely soluble in water, and that the drug is acidic. Unless you intend to use a solvent like methanol or acetone which would produce toxic effects, the water solubility is essential. Acidic chemicals tend to have an advantage with regards to removing additional impurities as they will cross between two immiscable solvents if one is made acidic. The impurities remain in the original solute while the product concentrates in the lower pH layer, allowing one to remove the non-pH-lowered solvent to be drained off. Since most persons reading this answer will be using a spoon and water, no point in further discussion there.

While the fillers and other tablet components are unhealthy to inject for various reasons I'll focus on the particulate matter that is introduced directly into the vein. Despite your best efforts to remove these particles, it can't be done without supplies beyond a cotton ball or coffee filter. In a clinical setting you will see patients with irreversible damage to the valves that stop blood from flowing backward when the heart beats. This damage itself causes inefficiency and as a result an increase in cardiac load. In the short-term symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and edema can be seen. Over time the cumulative effect can be an enlargement of the heart muscle to a point that the organ can no longer effectively circulate blood. *Subaortic stenotic hypertrophy.

Stimulant medications, taken appropriately, carry an increased risk of sudden cardiac death. The leading cause of sudden cardiac death in younger patients is Cardiomyopathy (or Subaortic senotic hypertrophy.) While it often doesn't get that far without diagnosis the outlook isn't good. Medication can manage some aspects to an extent, but only for awhile. Treatment over the longterm requires a transplant, something persons with a history of IV substance abuse are not likely to receive.

My clinical background is shadowed by IV substance abuse, and therefor I can say from an understanding but stern position that anyone taking the risk of injecting drugs in this manner is well past the point of a casual user. Willingness to even consider this route shows desperation. Get help now so we don't waste resources on treating you later.

What does xanax show up as drug screen?

Xanax, or alprazolam, shows up as a benzodiazepine on a drug screen. If the drug screen has a separate toxicology section, it may show alprazolam metabolites specifically.

If they are testing for BZD's in general will there be any difference as to how each (clono & XANAX) show up on the tox screen?

Is it safe to take adderall while pregnant?

From what I gather from the research, no studies have been conducted with humans. When rats and rabbits were given high doses of Concerta (over the prescribed normal dosages) there were birth defects. Rats that were given 30 mg or less of concerta had normal offspring. HOWEVER, it is unclear if the rats were given this dosage daily... From what I can gather from speaking with doctors and other members of the medical profession - it is recommended that pregnant women should not take the drug during pregnancy. Concerta has been classified by the FDA as a drug to be avoided during pregnancy and that there are no human studies to substantiate a claim one way or another. I am pregnant and a PhD student and am struggling without my Concerta and am wondering if there are any alternatives? I have found some websites that suggest if the drawbacks outweight the potential risks, then continue taking the med, but I can't see the risk of birth defects outweighing 9 months of struggling through school. What will Adderall show up as in a drug screening?

Adderall is comprised of mixed amphetamine salts. Ampetamine is the same thing as the street drug speed. It will show up as speed on a drug test it most likely will show up as an amphetamine with a drug test in my personal experience.

How do you get off Adderall?

This is an answer that you must read and follow very carefully. Wait until youre not high anymore, if you are still high then the next step is very dangerous. When its done and you feel like (deleted at the insistance of thy censoring gods of the interweb) have a SMALL amount of alcohol. Mixing uppers(like ritalin) and downers(like alcohol) is very dangerous. However, if you have SMALL amount to drink, something slightly less then a mild buzz, I've found that it counteracts. DO NOT GET DRUNK, DANGEROUS RESULTS LIKE DEATH MAY OCCUR. You have to be careful. Best way to go about it is coolers, one or two, maybe three if you drink alot.
