Adderall

Adderall is a mixed amphetamine drug. I was recently prescribed Adderall (5mg). I have since developed two yeast infections in the past month. After talking to my pharmacist, he said that there is no reason to think there is a correlation. However I suspect there is and have decided to stop Adderall. Not necessarily. I was curious about this myself ( I work in a drug treatment program) and tested my own urine. I've been on Adderall for a while now and take it as prescribed, fearful that it would show up positive. The test strips we have test for methamphetamine, and when i tested myself, i came up negative. Adderall is an amphetamine, but it has a different chemical structure. But, this may not be true for all drug tests.

I'm not a doctor, but I am very familiar with ADHD. I've never heard of such a classification.

There are three types of ADHD: inattentive, hyperactive/impulsive or both. The predominately inattentive subtype relates to people who have trouble focusing on items that aren't of particular interest to them for more than a short period of time. The hyperactive/impulsive subtype refers to a person who can't sit still and control their impulses. Both is, of course, both of these types put together.

Stimulant medicaitons, the kind that is used to treat ADHD most commonly, can be used for each of these three classifications.

Yes I take my adderall daily, and tizanidine at night to help me sleep, both prescribed.. Been taking it for many years and no problems. Although taking them together would probably cancel each other out I'm guessing..

Adderall contains amphetamines which are stimulants and hydrocodone are opiates which are considered depressants.

If your using it medically then there's no problems, if you want to get high though I'd be careful. I personally used 20mg of snorted adderall and ate 20mg of hydrocodone and had a very nice time.

If you do not eat anything else than 5 mg of Adderall, then you should loose several pounds in one week.

Are you sure it is "XR"? I would have to say that taking Adderall at bedtime is definitely not usual. I do not understand why you would need help concentrating when you sleep. I would consult with your physician on the reasoning behind it, or verify with the pharmacy that it was not a typo on the label.

For me personally there was no interaction while taking zithromax with adderall. I take 30mg adderall in the morning and I took two 250mg (500mg) of zithromax on day one followed with one 250mg of zithromax for the next four days. I felt just fine. I even asked a local pharmacist before taking and he said they won't interact. I couldn't find anything online either.

The combination is perfectly safe - to put it very simply, Adderall and Seroquel are sort of like polar opposites - Adderall is an amphetamine, which acts as a stimulant by increasing the amount of Dopamine in the brain, whereas Seroquel functions to decrease the amount of Dopamine floating around in the brain. For AD/HD, the combination is fine, I will not go into details, but let's just say even though Seroquel is a 'downer' and Adderall an 'upper', the mechanism whereby Adderall supposedly produces its anti-ADD effect has to do with another sector, if you will, of Dopamine receptor sites, than the one which Seroquel acts upon to exert an anti-dopamine action. So you can take both for AD/HD, although some doctors will still not recommend it, since the exact mechanism whereby amphetamines manage AD/HD is not exactly understood, and since Seroquel is a downer which can be used to totally get rid of the stimulating effect of amphetamine, it is rational to assume that perhaps, taking Seroquel with Adderall at the same time, might not be a good idea, because Adderall will not act as a stimulant in this mix, and stimulation, according to many doctors, is essential to ADHD management and concentration...which Seroquel inhibits very effectively. Thus, my opinion is, the two drugs should NOT be taken together, because they basically cancel one another out, however I am not a doctor, I'm just someone who has tried this combination and found it to be completely ridiculous for reasons mentioned above. But everyone is different, and many doctors will disagree without knowing why, so keep that in mind.

If the Adderall is being taken for its CNS stimulating properties, as in narcolepsy management, or for its anorectic properties.....Seroquel should not be taken in this case, as both wakefulness-promoting and anorectic qualities of the amphetamine will completely be lost.

Yes and no. Addiction is entirely based on your personality. After awhile you will begin to notice that the drug has lost its edge and the euphoria is not as strong. If you respond by taking more you are feeding into the addiction process. Soon you will find yourself taking 30mg a week maybe even 60mg. The largest dose I took in a week was about 280mg. No, if you continue with what you are doing and safely take it only once a week. Adderall is an amphetamine thus making it a drug with a great potential for addiction. The more you take it the more you risk getting addicted to it. Also, taking adderall only once a week instead of everyday will give your body the time needed to recuperate from the amphetamine. Your body will also have developed less of tolerance because your allowing yourself recovery days. As a general note, I am not discouraging you to take this drug. If you really do take it only once a week, I equate that to having a beer once a week. But if you find yourself having a 'need' for the drug or a depency for it, stop immeaditley and redose a few weeks later.

NO, in short hair test only test for the drugs that are in hair follicle, they do not test the quantity of the drug in the follicle. so the hair drug test will show you as being positive for amphetamines, but they can't determine how much amphetamines was used, so going from 20's to 30's will show up no different on a hair test.

When i took adderall, for about the first month i would sometimes get really dizzy and sometimes kind of sick. Also, I had a very low appetite but after about two months of taking it, my appetite came back. *** I take Adderall as a treatment for Narcolepsy. I've been taking it for almost 8 years and I still occasionally get a headache and low-grade fevers when it wears off. My appetite fluctuates day to day. If you were prescribed Adderall by your doctor, you should bring it up during your next visit. Different people are effected in different ways and you may need to adjust your dosages.

Yes Adderrall can cause red eyes. My eyes look bloodshot and I hate it! They say it's because in addition to dry mouth, it causes dry eyes which causes the redness... I mean whatever..my eyes don't feel dry though. But I believe it because my eyes are soo red and it's embarrassing and I hate it!
