How long after you take a Suboxone can you do opiates again?

Based on how much an how often you use you will devolop a tolernace by the end of a week with daily use or by the end of a month with an alternating day route. This can also be affected by how you use (EX. IV users tend to develop tolerance much faster) I feel some people are more proned to build tolerance faster than others. If you remain a chipper which i highly recommend and use only say once every Saturday every other week you will remain addiction free and get the most bang for your buck. Developing a tolernace leads to the loss off pleasurable effects that opiates give, once you lose it its very hard to get back at a reasonable dose. And if you have never used heroin or any opiates for that matter please start with a very small amount there is no gurantee how potent it will be and you could overdose very easily your first time.

How is cannibas addictive?

I think you mean "cannabis."

Cannabis is not addictive whatsoever unless you allow it to be, just like anything in life.

I've had ALOT of experience with my baby Mary Jane (been an everyday smoker for years.)

And I didn't really feel a dependency on it until I made it part of my everyday life, so just like all things in life, take it in moderation if you're going to take it at all.

How many people die from alcohol abuse a year in America?

No one died in the US due to alcohol in 1999, only from the abuse of alcohol. The lives of many people were saved and/or extended because they consumed alcohol in moderation and enjoyed the health benefits of doing so.

How drug addiction is acquired?

When you take your first drug, you are oblivious to everything around you. It could also make you feel good, it could change your emotions. The first drug is usually taken when you are around friends and are dragged into peer pressure. Most of the time when a person is introduced to their first drug and they are emotional or have personal problems, they think it will make them better and take it. The first few times it is usually taken for fun or just to feel better. Then eventually you start wanting it which is when you know you are getting addicted.

The above statements are true. However, there are other components to addiction. Doctors and scientists have found two very key factors in why some people become addicted, and others do not. In alcoholic addiction, there is the lack of an enzyme that non-alcoholic and social drinkers have. Work is being done to synthetically reproduce this enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down alcohol in a "normal" way. Also, there is very strong evidence that addiction is inherited. It is a disease. Research has also discovered an "addiction gene" that exists in addicts, which is one of the reasons it seems to cluster in families. For example, if two people have the addiction gene (the disease of addiction) and have three children, the odds that at least two of those children will eventually become addicted to a substance.

There is also the issue of 'self medicating' when another condition exists, for example ADHD, depression and/or anxiety.

When was alcoholism first discovered?

well no one really knows as early man invented beer after, what I'm guessing, agricultural settlements started with basic crops such as wheat. beers made from wheat of which beer was probably accidentally discovered starting the first alcoholic drink and i guess people started wondering what made people like this.

I have no idea how it really was discovered this is just my hypothesis

What do you call a person addicted to nicotine?

Answer

Yes, nicotine is at least as addictive as heroin, if not more addictive.

Answer

I was asked this question by my nine year old niece. Well, actually it was "Christine, can you be addicted to cigarettes?" I said, "Well, there is a drug called nicotine inside of it that makes your brain crave more, it's telling your body that you need this to go on." I think I am correct. Do you? It's not the habit of lighting that first cigarette to your last, Did I miss anything?

How do you know when you have an overdose?

How will becoming a drug addict affect the future?

It really depends on who you are, it is basically the same with alcohol. There are many recreational users today you wouldn't expect that even have high positions in society. The biggest issue is mental dependence, marijuana is not physically addictive but using it as self medication for depression, nervousness or social anxiety can cause problems. If you use it to self medicate you may come to find that it is hard in those situations which can cause dependence and can cause irritability and symptoms of with-drawl or moodiness without it. The dependence might cause money issues, and depending on how much you make it could leave you with smaller funds or possibly debt. If the individual works at a strict workplace that tests for marijuana (many only test for 'hard' drugs) and they get caught they could lose their job but that is about it. Daily marijuana use has shown (not sure if statistically significant) a drop in test grades, which may only be relevant to workers in precise situations or students who already have educational issues. It is entirely relative to how responsible the user is and how well they know when to stop.

Why am I depressed for no reason?

You could have depression, have premenstrual syndrome or be in menopause.

Aside from the above possible causes, "sadness" and "happiness" are primarily regulated by a brain chemical called serotonin. The brain continuously produces and reabsorbs this chemical to create a state of equilibrium in the individual - not too happy, not too sad. When you are very excited - for instance, during sexual activity or skydiving - the reuptake of the chemical is partially blocked creating a temporary saturation of serotonin accompanied by extreme elation. This can often be followed by temporary sadness or depression as the brain overreacts to this "too happy" situation and begans to reabsorb the chemical too quickly, leaving a deficiency. You can think of it as a bit of a rollercoaster ride where you go too far up and then too far down, and eventually level out.

Many street drugs, such as marijuana and cocaine, cause this same effect in exactly the same way - they simply block the normal reuptake of serotonin until they wear off and then you crash to a partly depressed state. This means you will simply smoke or snort more to get back to where you were, and each time the brain's reaction gets stronger.

Lots of prescription drugs can cause similar problems as can everyday substances such as caffeine and sugar

Check the prescriptions you are taking, get off street drugs if you are on them, and check your diet for stimulants you probably don't need.

Above all, if you are very concerned, speak to a medical professional.

Is addiction always unhealthy?

The addiction itself has no harm to you at all. The unhealthy part of it is when you constantly ingest toxic chemicals. The only safe drug is caffeine and it too can be harmful if you overdose. But even then it is very hard to overdose on caffeine.

Should you give free condoms and syringes to drug addicts?

If syringes are made scarce for IV drug users they're going to share. If condoms are not attainable people will get careless and go without. These things are made readily available to help prevent the spread of HIV.

What are the long term effects of snorting pills?

makes your nose bleed and can cause loss of smell. but I've snorted pills for years and i can still smell fine so i say go for it.

^ The above is a terrible answer and should be taken serious. Who ever posted this must not be in full addiction to whatever drug they are snorting. First off, just nose bleeds and not being able to smell are two very minor problems when it comes to snorting drugs. I am not a doctor, I am an addict who is trying to get better but I'm not your average addict in that I do a lot of researcher, am attempting to get a degree (not going well due to my addiction) and read a lot on subjects I'm interested in. I have studied natural health for 7 years now and snorting drugs, besides being a waste of the drug (in terms of pills/prescription meds), it damages the lungs significantly, of course it damages your sinus cavity and then of course any use of drugs damages the body immensely. How anyone can promote drug use and snorting is ignorant and has not fallen completely into the addiction. Because I do not have an addictive personality normally, it took me about 8 years or more to become an everyday user when it comes to pain meds. I feel in love and had a mental addiction almost immediately but I was able to have control over it for the first decade almost but it took me staying home all day to start using it more frequently and then to the everyday and there is NOTHING fun about it, NOTHING!! I mean that with every sense of the word. I don't enjoy the high anymore, if I even get high. I need so much of it, it costs me a rent payment just for a few days of being well. I need it to function or else I'm not happy and extremely sick. My life has gone nowhere and I'm extremely depressed and the pills don't even help anymore. It was the ultimate trap, with the facade that having all day access to the pills would be the ultimate life and I would have fun and be happy, only to find out that it would make my life so miserable it's too much to bare. But now its too late, I'm trapped, if I stop I'm sick for days if not a week, and when that is through, then it's months of hopeless depression boarding on suicidal, with no energy or motivation to do anything. The mental addiction is the hardest if not impossible to beat now and if there is a Satan, then this is his ultimate drug. It lures you in with the appeal of not feeling any emotions and fake happiness and once you are in, you are in for good and you no longer are happy and nothing in life will bring you joy, not even the drug you gave up your life for. Please, for anyone reading this, do not listen to the niavity of people who make careless comments like this comment above mine. If you are not physcially addicted yet and completely trapped, stop now. I know it is the hardest time to stop because you get the most joy at this stage of the addiction but I promise you, I give you my word of honor and will bet you any amount of money you can think of, it does not turn out well and you will only regret and be miserable. To get out of the end stage I'm in, is worse than surving the epocolypse. Most people in my stage of addiction never make it out, only die. Do not let yourself get there. It is not fun at all. You can only get so high and eventually you do run out of the good feelings it use to produce.

I'm a 13 year old boy that loves to wear diapers is there something wrong with me?

You have a form of paraphilia, an unusual attraction (almost always sexual in nature) to odd objects. While harmless in inself, you would do well to speak with a professional about it, as it is an issue that will undoubtedly cause you many problems and a lot of embarrassment later in life.

Is it safe to take Claritin while on suboxone?

No it is a very bad idea to do this. There are two man drugs in suboxone, they are bupamorphine Buprenorphine and Naltrexone Naloxone. The bupamorphine Buprenorphine is in the opiate family and binds to your opiate receptors which prevents withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Also since bupamorphine Buprenorphine saturates your opiate receptors any other opiates you take will not have any effect and you will not feel it at all, so its just a waste of money. Naltrexone Naloxone is a drug that make it impossible to shoot up suboxone and also will make you VERY sick if other opiates are taken on top of it. If you take any kind of opiate with suboxone the naltrexone Naloxone will send you in to VERY painful withdrawal. Do not do this, you might end up in the emergency room as well. If you are going to take opiates wait at least 3 days after you have taken suboxone if you want to actually feel the opiate because it takes that long for the suboxone to get out of your system.

You will not get sick if you are already stabilized on suboxone. If you are taking suboxone daily and you take any opiate on top of it, it will not make you sick. The naltrexone Naloxone is only activated when the pill is crushed for potential IV use, otherwise not enough of the naltrexone Naloxone is activated to make you sick. I have taken pain killers within hours of taking my suboxone to try and relieve some of the pain that the suboxone was not taking care of and I didnt get sick.

How do you get rid of a raspy voice from smoking?

Yell alot, smoke, smoke, and smoke some more. Cough and clear your throat constantly, but when you have accomplished the rasp in your voice, it won't be so sexy when you are known for your loud mouth, obnoxious behavior, and cigarette smell. Talking too much, singing too much and of course smoking too much Singing without warming up will give you a raspy voice. Stevie Nicks got her signature voice this way by accident. It creates scar tissue and nodules on your vocal cords. It is something that I would not want to have.
