Alliteration Assonance and Consonance

This is a speech to the second Virginia convention I swear

All the pages and all sentences have alliteration in Thank You for the Thistle by Dorie Thurston.

Example: "Brent Bernard watched with wild wonder at the wide window as the beautiful birds began to bite into the bountiful birdseed."

Assonance is used in English. It mean the same sound. I'm not quite sure what you mean by an example of it in Twilight, but and example of it in poetry-ish terms is 'twinkling twilight' or something like that. Sorry if this wasn't what you had intended.. but hope it helped!

An alliteration is a form of figurative language. An alliteration is the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. Meaning when two of the same letter are placed at the start of two words beside each other. It is used to create vivid imagery inside the readers mind and to make it more interesting

Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds within words that do not rhyme.

For example, short a in trap ,rat, flag. Rat, cat. and bat would not be examples even though they all have same vowel sounds because they rhyme.

The themes in Washer women are those of regret, and predictability. Regret is shown by their former hopes for example 'baffled hopes' and 'drifts of dissapointment'. They also are shown to hold onto their thoughts as they are 'unchanging'. They also have very repetitive lives by the use of words such as 'familiar' 'reisgned themselves to day long swishing' and how each day 'the shadows come' showing how they wash all day long.

For language, there are lots of repferences to music with word phrases siuch as ' of an orchestra' and ' sound of washing' and 'persistent music' ypu can analyse each one of these seperatley or just collect them as a series. There is also a HUGE amoutn of onomatopia(Sorry cannot spell) like 'bubles', 'humming', 'rushing' 'crash' these contribute also to the feeling of an orchestra with each sound playing its part but also the animation of the whole event and prehaps the excitment a stranger would feel.

The structure is odvious, it follows a day of the washing until the 'shadows come' this further reinforces how tedious and time consuming the work is. It also follows the feeling of the women who beign with their hopes and dreams but by the end they have 'resigned themselves' to the daylong siwshing showing how they have lost faith.
