Does the aluminum compound in deodorant cause Alzheimer's Disease?
No, it does not.
The reasons Alzheimer's patients have higher levels of aluminum is because the cells affected are less able to rid themselves of toxins (like aluminum) that build up. It is not because aluminum compounds, slowly accumulating over time, damage the cells.
If the aluminum compounds somehow soaked in through the skin and damaged the brain, you would see an abnormally high amount of Alzheimer's disease affecting populations of people who worked with aluminum as part of their daily life (like chefs, airplane mechanics, aluminum siding salesmen, etc.) - which isn't the case.
Seek help from the Alzheimer support groups. You are not alone. Others have been in your shoes.
Is Alzheimer's disease dominant or recessive?
it can be either if one parent has it and the other doesn't then it can be dominant. say both parents have it with them it depends on who has more likely chance to get it. did i help at all?
What are the symptoms of alzheimers?
The condition Alzheimer's mostly occurs in older people the main symtom is that they will start to forget things.
A main symptom of Alzheimer's disease is memory loss. It appears mild at first, but soon Alzheimer's sufferers forget how to write sentences, and even get dressed. Another symptom of Alzheimer's disease is hallucinations. It is a terrible disease, but there are efforts being put towards a cure.
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by a build-up of proteins in the brain. Though this cannot be measured in a living person, extensive autopsy studies have revealed this phenomenon. The build-up manifests in two ways: * Plaques - deposits of the protein beta-amyloid that accumulate in the spaces between nerve cells * Tangles - deposits of the protein tauthat accumulate inside of nerve cells Scientists are still studying how plaques and tangles are related to Alzheimer's disease. One theory is that they block nerve cells' ability to communicate with each other, making it difficult for the cells to survive. Autopsies have shown that most people develop some plaques and tangles as they age, but people with Alzheimer's develop far more than those who do not develop the disease. Scientists still don't know why some people develop so many compared to others. However, several risk factors for Alzheimer's disease have been uncovered. Age
Advancing age is the number one risk factor for developing Alzheimer's disease. One out of eight people over the age of 65 has Alzheimer's disease, and almost one out of every two people over the age of 85 has Alzheimer's. The probability of being diagnosed with Alzheimer's nearly doubles every five years after age 65. Family History
People who have a parent or sibling that developed Alzheimer's disease are two to three times more likely to develop the disease than those with no family history of Alzheimer's. If more than one close relative has been affected, the risk increases even more. Scientists have identified two kinds of genes that are associated with this familial risk factor. The first is thought to be a "risk gene," APOE-e4, that increases the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's, but does not guarantee it. In addition to APOE-e4, scientists think there could be up to a dozen more risk genes yet to be discovered. The second kind of gene is a "deterministic gene" and is much rarer than risk genes. Deterministic genes are only found in a few hundred extended families around the world. If a deterministic gene is inherited, the person will undoubtedly develop Alzheimer's, probably at a much earlier age.
Can smoking pot with tin foil really give you alzheimers?
Um, in reference to below - that is untrue. Do not spoke pot with tin or aluminum...it is horrid for you...I'd suggest not even eating a can of tuna. Yes, Tin/Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer and other terrible diseases, and its everywhere! I recommend avoiding tin foil, tin cans, and any other heavy metals that can remain in your system. Although your system does flush out some of the residue left behind from metals, much of it will reside in your brain for life, and causes memory problems etc. And who knows what else! If you want to smoke pot, use a glass pipe, its the cleanest and best way to avoid build up in your lungs. Oh, and do your own research with respect to Aluminum and Alzheimer's..do Google searches, and don't blindly trust studies, doctors, or people who have no clue what they are talking about, and like to give bad health advise (i.e. below)...don't take any chances, avoid intake of metals, and you will be healthier than doctor-bad-advice below.
"No.
There have been studies that show that people who have alzheimers tend to have a higher concentration of aluminum in their systems. However, this higher concentration of aluminum is genetic, and not from exposure to aluminum itself. As for the argument that pieces of tinfoil will 'flake off' and go down someone's throat?
Smoking out of tinfoil would only be harmful if you could inhale, or take in the tinfoil particles. In order to do that, the particles would have to be changed from solid to vapor. The boiling point of aluminum is 4,473°F.
This is compared to the heat that a butane lighter produces, which is typically around1,300°F. Far too low to heat the aluminum to a form that would be harmful."
A good place to begin would be by contacting the local Alzheimer's Assoc. Chapter. They can put you in touch with an attorney specializing in Elder Law and/or persons with disabilities. There are no specific state statutes, preventing creditors from pursuing collection or even suing people with disabilities. However, many states have specific laws protecting the property of the disabled and elderly. And the courts are very sympathetic in these type of circumstances.
Alzheimer's disease was named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer in 1906

Most diseases are named for the first person, or for the most notable or well known person to be diagnosed with this disease, or for the doctor who first identified it. So "Lou Gehrig's Disease", in the USA, was named for the famous baseball player who suffered it. In Britain, it is called "Motor Neuron Disease", and this is the same thing that Stephen Hawking has.
Alzheimer's Disease was named for Dr. Alois Alzheimer, the German psychiatrist who first diagnosed and described it.
Twin studies suggest that Alzheimer's disease is influenced by?
Not exercising the brain through learning and heredity.
I think you mean Alzheimer's and it is a serious disease among elderly people hat causes brain damage and memory loss
What should a person do to cope up with low blood pressure?

Is Alzheimer's Disease an infectious agent that could be used as a weapon of bioterrorism?
Alzheimer's Disease is not known to be caused by an infectious agent. The disease's cause is still being investigated. Even if it were caused by an infectious agent, it would not likely be used for bioterrorism because the disease process tends to be slow.
