Prednisone in pill form as shipped from the drug company should have a shlef life of at least 2 - 3 years to account for shipping, storage and sales time. Often pharmacies use a one year expiration date which is not the actual date from the drug company. They are trying to be safe and account for poor storage, containers left in hot cars etc., and potentially for increased sales. If stored properly, ie not in sunlight or a humid area, 2 years from prescription date should be just fine.

Whoever wrote that is dumb. I've been doing some research. A nurse told me that it should help stop the bleeding, but she was not sure why. Asprin is a blood thinner, but not all painkillers are. That's a very ignorant statement.

No, not the same as paracetamol but can provide similar relief (e.g. for some pain or headache) by different means. My understanding is that it reduces inflammation locally and that's how the relief comes.

There is an over-the-counter, supermarket-supplied or pharmacy-supplied pill (different popular name) which is the same as ibuprofen. If you went to a pharmacy and asked for the pill that is the same as ibuprofen you would get it.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) passes though the liver, while Ibuprofen (Motrin) is passed through your kidneys. You can take your dosage (based on your weight ) for either medications at the same time safely.

As a PA in the pediatric ER we do tell parents that they can give their child BOTH Tylenol and Motrin to help fight a bad fever. We like to have them have some overlap time because then the fever is covered (Take Tylenol 1st and 2 hours later take Motrin). Most of the time we just suggest straight Motrin (more than Tylenol) because the overlap can be confusing and their is a higher risk of Tylenol overdose than with Motrin. Remember Asprin (Acetylsalicylic acid) is different than Motrin/Advil (Ibuprofen) and Tylenol (Acetaminphen) and should NOT be given to children because it can cause Reyes Syndrome.

Ibuprofen (advil) is an anti-inflammatory which will help with headache pain, muscular pain, joint pain, pain from an injury or surgery (where there is swelling), it is the best OTC all around painkiller. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) works in a different way, and will not help pain from swelling so much, which is where the majority of our pain comes from, it is better for nerve pain.
