Can Prozac help obsessive thoughts?
It can cause obsessive thoughts an dit can help alleviate obsessive thoughts.
Does Prozac show up on a basic drug test?
No. Fluoxetine (Prozac) is an SSRI antidepressant. It is not a substance of abuse which is tested for ... ever. It also does not confound drug testing for any of the substances which are tested for.
Can Lexapro cause a missed period?
Effexor - how long are the withdrawl symptoms?
Not too long. A couple of weeks. My Doc prescribed that stuff for me because of heart palpitations "brought on by panic attacks". The fact that my heart would skip beats is what MADE me panic!!! Anyhow, I know how you feel. I called it, 'The Fuzzies". Like an odd electric shock from my tongue to my legs every 15 minutes or so. Stay cool, you'll be alright. I was worried it wouldn't stop but it did! Take care and be safe. Dan I must disagree with the above. While it depends on the amount you are taking, they last several weeks and are extremely serious. You were very lucky if all you got was a fuzzy feeling and leg disconfort for 15 minutes. Statistically, 78% of those who take the medication and try to come off go through a lot of mental and physical pain. I am one of those. L.
Can you take Wellbutrin and levothyroxine and Cymbalta?
Yes, it is generally considered safe to take Wellbutrin (bupropion), levothyroxine, and Cymbalta (duloxetine) together, as there are no major drug interactions among these medications. However, it’s essential to consult with your healthcare provider before starting or combining these medications, as individual health factors and potential side effects should be taken into account. Your doctor can provide personalized advice and monitor your response to the combination.
What supplements can you take for fatigue and anxiety for lexapro withdrawal?
Having been off lexapro, cold turkey, for a week, I understand all of the dizziness and fatigue that you are experiencing. But, yesterday, I fell on a conclusion and a cure for the lexapro withdrawal. Apparently, when you go off lexapro, during the withdrawal phase, you feel dizzy because your brain doesn't produce enough of the essential nuerotransmitter, acetylcholine. This can be balance with strong b-vitamin supplements (make sure the supplement contains choline bitartrate). There are also foods that should be eaten to boost acetylcholine levels. Egg yolks, milk, and meat contain the essential amino acids to help your body compensate for the loss of ssri's. The combination of food and supplements has completely stopped my dizziness. I feel overall, a little tired, (i think from withdrawal, not from vitamins), but I feel a heck of a lot better than I did two days ago. If you are going through lexapro wthdrawal , I strongly urge you to try these things, I cn't communicate the difference they havemade for me.
like a dream. I was no longer anxious to speak in front of people, I was able to concentrate better and I had an over all positive view on life. After a while, I began noticing that I have absolutely no drive. I cant get out of bed, and I dont care. I gained 25 lbs--I have been developing leg jerks at night. Alcohol cravings and carb cravings hit an all time high, I would eat and drink constantly.
So, I decided to stop. With all of the messages out there not to do what I did, I was a bit frightened, but I did it anyway. I am a little dizzy, I have brain 'shocks', and I had a slight anxious reaction when I was walking up to a group of people. BUT I can get out of bed without fatigue, I am not eating everything in sight, and I am starting to fell like myself again.
It seems like no matter if you taper or just come off it cold turkey, you will get the same symptoms. Its nothing I cant handle. I get dizzy, it goes away, I am fine. I get iritable. VERY irritable... but it is just like anything else, you CONTROL yourself.
I am begining to think that these brain meds are really screwing with peoples heads, they havent been out that long, who knows what studies will conclude in 20 years...
So far to minimize symptoms of withdrawal, I have just taken deep breathing, drank alot of water, and told myseld, that I have control over my emotions. Nothing else. I am still going thru the withdrawal, but I will keep you all posted when the symptoms subside
This Question Lacks an Answer
Previously posted answer was nonsense about herbal supplements and how we all need to turn to god (thank you, but I am fine without fairy tales to comfort me). I am currently suffering through withdrawal and came here in hopes of finding some way to ease the symptoms. Would someone with an actual answer please post?

I've gone through this two times. Do it the wrong way (stop taking Lexapro), and it can be really bad. There are no ways to "ease" the symptoms. The best thing to do is to minimize their occurrence, and to do this, you need to taper-off VERY SLOWLY. Seriously. Once you have the withdrawal symptoms, you just have to deal with them, which is just too horrible. There are no ways to ease them. So try to bring them on in the most gentle way possible. DO NOT JUST STOP TAKING LEXAPRO!!! I cut all of my pills in half and then into quarters and dropped my dosage by the lowest possible pill denomination (2.5 mg, which is 1/4 of a pill) at a time. Stay at each lowered dosage for a minimum of 2 weeks, or one week longer than your withdrawal symptoms last; which means, every time you cut down a dose, wait until you feel "pretty good" for about a week before you cut down again. Don't rush it. I've read that if you take plenty of omega-3 throughout the ordeal, it is supposed to help. I started taking it about a week before I even started cutting down my dosage. I have to say that overall, my symptoms these last few weeks have been a far cry from what they were the first time I tried to get off of Lexapro. It was absolutely intolerable the first time. You need to be prepared. Do as much research as you can. Here are a few resources that I found pretty interesting: tapersafely.org; theroadback.org. Today (10-27-07) I am on my 3rd day of ZERO Lexapro in my system, after starting a taper-down on September 10. I'm feeling jittery in my head with a constant, strange, lightheaded dizzy-ish but without the spins feeling all day. Not sure what to do about it except try to be healthy every other way that I can. I hope it goes away soon. And best wishes to you.
UPDATE: 1/19/07: Had the most horrific month after getting down to zero milligrams. Eye/ear/brain hypersensitivity, freezing cold, memory loss. If you're interested, you can read my journal about it here. Doing much better now.
Aleve helped a tiny bit. Took the edge off. Xanax too. Omega-3 is definitely good for your nervous system. Best wishes.

Time for withdrawal symptoms Cymbalta?
It can take anywhere form a few days to months. It really depends on how long you where taking cymbalta. If you took it for a month there might not be any withdrawal but if you took it for 6 months to a year it can take weeks even longer.
Normal humans should be able to control their emotions.
Of course, not everyone can control their emotions on their own. Some people need therapy or even medication.
Can L-Theanine and Prozac be taken together?
Prozac works on serotonin and Theanine works on gaba which in turn seem toraise dopamine levels so both of them are working on entirely different neurotransmitters so there should be no drug reactions, but an advice with a professional health specialist will be the best thing.
Is fluoxetine an anti-cholinergic drug?
Mechanism of Action: Like the tricyclics, venlafaxine and its active metabolite, O-desmethylvenlafaxine (ODV), exert their antidepressant effects by inhibiting the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine. Both parent and metabolite also have weak inhibitory effects on the reuptake of dopamine but, unlike the tricyclics, exert no in vitro activity at histaminergic, muscarinic, or ›A-adrenergic receptors, which accounts for its lack of anticholinergic, sedative, and cardiovascular side effects frequently observed with the tricyclic antidepressants. However, despite the claims of minimal muscarinic receptor activity, anticholinergic side effects may still occur with venlafaxine.
Is a bad idea. Exist antidepressant drugs that are forbidden for teens under 18 years old, for example Prozac, Zoloft etc.
Why are forbidden? Because a dangerous side effect is suicidal thoughts.
Best regards,
David
Can you take pain pills with Cymbalta?
Yes, I was in a terrible wreck that I've been suffering from for 15 years now. I've been going to a Chiropractor ever since I was 21 once a week. My pain always came back. The cymbalta is helping my pain tremendously.
So tired that I take generic adderall to combat this.
Can you take imitrex with Effexor xr?
I wouldn't suggest it. Firstly, imitrex works by blocking the pain receptors in your brain to stop the migraines. It is an abortive medication (stops the migraine from getting worse when you feel it coming on), so if the norco is for the pain of the migraines you may just need to add a preventative medication instead of taking norco. Norco is for moderate to severe pain usually prescribed after surgery, and is very addictive. The preventative medication (a med that keeps the migraines from starting or at least from coming on so frequently) is a better option. If you take the two together you will most likely not be able to function for quite a while, and from what I've read things like vicodin and norco (basically double strength vicodin with less acetaminophen or "tylenol") can cause what's called "rebound headaches" and make your migraines worse or more frequent overall. If the norco is for a different kind of pain, I would suggest taking it at a different time than you take the imitrex so you're not completely out of it. I know when I even take one imitrex, it usually puts me to sleep for approximately 4 hours due to the strength and purpose of the drug. Adding norco would put me out for a long time, most likely all day/night. Just remember norco is a very difficult drug to get off of, highly addictive and habit forming. Be careful with that norco, adding a preventative med would be a much safer and more effective way of managing chronic migraine pain. Hope this helps and that you feel better soon.
What are the effects of mixing Prozac and cannabis?
I've taken Prozac alot of times before, but first off....
I'm pretty sure your not physically withdrawing off cannabis because it is something that is generally unheard of but still known. Second, Prozac takes over a week to give antidepressent effects so it is quite stupid to be using Prozac to "Withdraw" off cannabis, if your really feeling like crap and need something to take off the edge, grab yourself some sort of benzo (Xanax, Valium etc.) which has instant effects and will put you to sleep but please understand that these drugs CAN and WILL make you experience physical and emotional dependance ALOT worse than cannabis or any opiate will, this of course only happens with long term daily use but even then you should be careful.
My honest opinion: Its all in your head, your not withdrawing off cannabis (Unless you have been smoking for YEARS, daily) and even then you should just wait it off as there are absolutely no dangers in withdrawing and not consuming cannabis (Trust me :P).
Is it safe to drink while on Lexapro?
Medically I am not certain.Although my husband was on Lexapro for about 2 years and his alcohol consumption did not vary much.My personal opinion (since I was the one watching and documenting behaviors as they changed his meds) is that alcohol seems to lessen the effects of the Lexapro.Or else the depression and repression of emotions with alcohol added are too strong for the dosage he was taking, which was 20mg,to handle.Lexapro is a tough ride for anyone using it for bi-polar manic depression. My husband lives in the manic side of this disorder most of the time.So the dosage for him was to calm him and keep him focused.Alcohol obviously does the opposite for anyone on the medication or not.The effects of stopping this medication "cold turkey" can be devastating for the loved ones or co-workers!Much more so than the person coming off of it!The side effects should be told to you by your prescribing Dr. or your pharmacist.I hope this insight helped at least a little.
Answer
I'm a college student and I was on Lexapro for several months. However, when I started on it, I never really heeded the warning on the script about drinking. So, I'd go out and drink my normal amount (not much at all) but I'd go from fine and a little buzzed to practically blacking out. There were times I don't remember a large portion of the night, which started freaking me out. It didn't take me long to figure out it was from the Lexapro. I also have a couple of friends who have experienced the same thing. Eventually I would just not take it on Fridays or Saturdays...which did help, but I wouldn't recommend skipping doses. I would just say you're better off not drinking, as Lexapro definitely has a huge and immediate effect...you'll go from totally fine to waking up the next morning wondering what happened.
There is NO prescription drug that is not altered by Alcohol. Some are worse than others and some have long-term effects. Long-term as in reproductive problems, heart problems and neurological damage. So as a rule of thumb it is most advisable to NEVER consume Alcohol while taking ANY Prescription drug.

Alcohol is a depressant and lexapro is and anti-depressant, so drinking will lessen the effects of the lexapro. Anyone who is depressed or bi-polar shouldn't drink anyways. Alcohol will alter the effects of ANY drug.
i am currently on lexapro 20mg and have been for about 6 months. before that i was on lexapro 10mg and before that Zoloft 20mg. my experience of drinking while on the lexapro is that i am fine until the next day. my behaviour and feelings while drinking are the same as when i wasn't on any medication. however, whether hung over or not i experience severe sadness and suicidal thoughts for anything a day to weeks after drinking. as a general rule i do not drink at all anymore because the aftermath is so devastating.
Is there a difference between bupropion hcl XL and bupropion XL?
Generic medications are required by law to contain the same ingredients as the brand medication. The only difference would be in price. The company who invented Wellbutrin brand of buproprion has had the right to be the only company making the drug for the past 17 years. Now the patent has expired, and other companies can make the drug, but they cannot call it Wellbutrin - This is all good and well for the technical side of things, but what's the reality of the Wellbutrin vs generic issue?
Add-on:
This isn't exactly true. Once the patent expires generic drug manufacturers can sell the same active ingredient with +/- 20% bioavailability of said ingredient per pill. The weight of the pill, the fillers, and the binders are also different. Overall, this can make a huge difference for people who need a specific dose released at a specific rate to balance their brain. Wellbutrin in particular has been documented again and again to be inconsistent as a generic. Why is that? We're not exactly sure, we just know that many people respond poorly to the generic where the brand name was working.
http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2000/04/01/bupropion/
Above are hundreds of complaints people's pharmacy has accumulated over the past 4-5 years from people who were switched from Brand name to generic Wellbutrin. In particular, the manufacturer TEVA puts out a product called Budeprion XL, which has more severe side-effects and less positive medical effects on depression and anxiety. This is due to the fact that, although it is used as a replacement for Wellbutrin XL, the rate of release is 4x faster during the first 2 hours than with Brand name Wellbutrin. This inconstancy has caused trouble for people. See Consumerlab.com for details.
Otherwise, manufacturers Actavis and Watson have generally good reviews from users who have used both the generic and brand name products - the consensus seems to be that they are still not the same, and that the brand name works best, but for the price reduction the Actavis and Watson are worth it.
You can always do research on drugs.com or askapatient.com where people report and grade their experiences with prescription medications.
Can you take Vyvanse with Effexor XR?
Vyvanse may be used with Effexor XR, but only under the supervision of a qualified health professional who is experienced with psychotropic drug combinations. For some people, this combination is too stimulating and can precipitate increased anxiety, nausea, tremors, and other side effects.
Can you take an antibiotic and antidepressant together?
It is probably safe to take an antibiotic and antidepressant together; however, "antibiotic" and "antidepressant" are both really big categories of drugs, and there are many, many different types of each. When visiting your doctor, always let the doctor know what drugs you are taking so he or she can prescribe drugs that are safe to take together. If you have questions about possible interactions or safety of taking two specific drugs at the same time, always ask your doctor of pharmacist.
What actions would be taken in the event of an overdoes of antidepressants?
Does lamictal help taking it with Effexor?
It can be completely okay to do so. Effexor is an activating anti depressant. Meaning if you tend to get sleepy and low energy with a depression, it is a good choice. Lamictal is a mood stabilizer. Abilify has multiple uses. It can enhance a anti depressant, it can level a manic state, or be used at an anti psychotic. ALWAYS, ask your doctor why he is giving you a med. As much respect as I have for mine...he is a service industry. He serves you. And stability requires a team effort. Best of luck...there is life after meds...
