I believe what your are describing is actually a wingless wasp, often called 'cattle ants', 'cow ants', or 'velvet ants'. They are actually in the wasp family and vary in color from red to orange to yellow, one way to tell they are a wasp and not an ant is that they are 'hairy' and much larger then any typical ant (this answer assumes you live in the US).

Mostly by smell and by touch. Some kinds of army ant soldiers, like the soldiers of American Eciton ants, have small eyes that are not much good for hunting. Other kinds, like Dorylus ant soldiers from Africa, have no eyes at all.

Every ants lives in trees cause ants gets food and carry them up to the tree or somewhere else maybe.

No...................... termites are not Ants because termites do not have big/small munchers at ether side of the mouth and ants are not termites because ants do not chew on wood.

Termites are related closer to cockroaches then they are ants, Yes people do call them white Ants but in fact are not Ants or related to ants at all.

All insects have three body sections (head, thorax, and abdomen. Spiders are arachnids, not insects, most noticeably because they only have two section: cephalothorax and abdomen) Insects also have six legs. If it is a winged insect, it will typically have one or two pairs.

The moral of the story was to do hard work first and then celebrate because the grasshopper did not prepare for winter like ant did (he was too busy celebrating spring), therefore the grasshopper was starving.

Vinegar is generally the best solution. and baking soda mixed in with warm water can ease the pain. :)

Ants are important because they make the soil better for growing crops. They attack

larger prey that are harmful to the environment.

They don't actually eat the leaves - because they cannot digest the cellulose. Instead - they take the pieces of leaf back to their 'nest' - and use them to grow fungus on them. They then eat the fungus.

Ants can't stand mint. It's a great natural repellent. Mint also grows very fast, like a weed would, so you only have to plant it in a small space and it will soon take up a much greater space.

Ants are a social/hive/colony insect. The colony has one female queen (which will be very large) and one male ant (which may have died after fertilizing the queen). All the rest of the ants in the colony are sterile workers (no mater how big they are or what they look like).

About once a year the queen will lay fertile eggs and these will grow to become immature males and females. These immature ants will normally have wings and will leave the nest to mate and start new colonies. The females are normally bigger than the males because they need the fat reserves to start rearing a new brood.
