Can you substitute white vinegar and apple juice in place of apple cider vinegar?
Traditional Cider Making Process Freshly picked apples are left to mature for a week, then crushed or pulped. This is called the pomace or pommy The pomace or pommy then has the juice extracted in a cider press Traditionally the juice is run into wooden barrels, with the bungs taken out. No yeast is added as traditional cider making relies on wild yeasts. The fermentation starts within one or two days and keeps going for several weeks. In this time the barrel needs to be topped up with more juice. When the fermentation is over, the bung is replaced and the cider needs to be matured for five to six months.(For more a more detailed explanationgo to the link below."Cider making").
What are the layers of an apple?
In the center of the avocado is a pit. The pit is usually larger than a gumball, and is a dark brown color. Surrounding the pit is the light green flesh of the avocado. The flesh achieves a more pasty quality as the avocado softens and ripens. Finally, covering the light green flesh of the avocado is a rough dark green-ish brown skin. The skin and pit are typically removed when eating the avocado.

Why do apples bruise when dropped?
When an apple bruises, cells split open and chemicals called phenols, within the cell oxidize and turn brown. Phenols oxidize even faster in the presence of an organic chemical called ethylene, a chemical produced by bananas during ripening.
So if you were to place a banana next to an apple, once you have initiated the bruising process, the ethylene gas being produced by the banana will speed up the chemical reaction producing a more pronounced bruise. You may find large "bruise" marks within days.

What kind of thorny bush produces apples?
I'm looking for the identity of this bush which grows in my southern Ohio lawn. It's currently 5'X4', thorny limbed, and periodically the leaves will become red tipped. The fruit looks strikingly like a golf-ball sized granny smith apple with a slight pink blush to it. The "apples" grow directly from the thorns late in summer/fall and are smooth on the surface as an apple would be. Any ideas would be appreciated.

What will happen if a apple tree has no flowers in a year?
It would not make apples nor seeds.
If this is a temporary or once-in-a-while situation - such as a heavy late frost during blooming period that kills off the flowers or flower buds - that tree will not bear fruit that year.
If this is a long-term situation affecting all apple trees in an area or region, then the apple trees will eventually die out in those areas because there are no future generations to sustain the species - or the trees will evolve into something else.
