No, they are not poisonous but I doubt if they would make a very tasty snack.

Are there any armadillos in Australia?

Armadillos are strictly animals of the Americas and do not occur in Australia.

Can you find armadillos in Mexico and western Africa?

Only in Mexico. Armadillos are a native species from the Americas, and most species can be found in Central and South America. The word armadillo comes from Spanish, and means 'little armored one'.

What is an armadillo's niche?

Right now, it's the corner of my vegetable garden! He/she won't leave despite broom prodding. Just keeps digging deeper and deeper in my organic soil. I'm sure I'll have a half-eaten garden left in the morning.

What trophic levels do armadillos belong to?

The trophic level is the level in the food chain that an animal occupies. The armadillo belongs to both the second and third trophic levels.

Can a lion eat an armadillo?

It could but it doesn't. Armadillos are from North and South America while the lion is primarily from Africa. They never meet in nature.

Can you milk an armadillo?

No, you cannot milk an armadillo.

Can an armadillo live in Vermont?

Animals have been known to survive in places you'd never expect them to. IF they have their needs properly met, I am sure it is totally possible. Just think about a Zoo. You have animals from a completely different region living "comfortably."

Is Colorado a safe habitat for armadillos?

Colorado is much too cold in the winter for armadillos as they are unable to hibernate and have little body protection for cold weather.

Is an armadillo a vertebrate animal?

No, an armadillo is not an invertebrate. An armadillo is a mammal, so like all mammals, it is a vertebrate. It has a backbone and an internal spine.

What animals eat armadillos?

Armadillos have few wild predators, but coyotes, dogs, black bears, bobcats, cougars, foxes and raccoons are reported to catch and kill armadillos in places where these predators occur. Hawks, owls and feral pigs may prey on armadillo young.

What is the life span of a armadillo?

Armadillos are cool little creatures. They are in the same order as sloths and anteaters but are much smaller. They have an armor-like protective shell they use for defense in the wild and live mostly in warmer environments.

  1. FunctionGeography
  2. While to the casual observer Armadillos seem to have no function at all, through history they have been used by humans quite a bit. They were known as "Hoover Hogs" in the 1930s during the Great Depression because Americans who were affected and lost their homes sometimes had to catch and eat these animals, and President Hoover was thought to be largelyresponsible. They are also used by scientists to study leprosy. Features
  3. Armadillos generally like warm climates due to their lack of body fat. They are found mostly in Southwest states including Texas, although they have been seen as far east as Florida. They are naturally from South America, where several types exist. In the states, only the "Nine-Banded" species are found. They get this name from the number of "bands" found on their shells. Size
  4. Armadillos feature a very unique body. They dig for most of their food, so they have very sharp claws and eat mostly insects. They do not see very well but are not completely blind. They use their noses and sense of feel to find food. Their hard shells are a composite of bone and very sturdy epidermal scales. While they sometimes use this outer shell for defense, they are much more likely to run into sticker bushes to escape possible predators. They have very few natural enemies. Unfortunately, the Nine-Banded species is prone to jumping straight up when scared, and this causes them to be hit by automobiles quite often. Types
  5. The average length of armadillos is around 30 inches including their tails. They have very short legs and can remain under water for several minutes, inflating their lungs greatly in order to float along. They have a large number of small teeth that are not arranged in any particular order. Their eyes are very small and are located on the sides of the head.
  6. As mentioned, the only type of armadillo that resides in the United States is the Nine-Banded variety. Several others exist in other parts of the world. For instance, the Giant Armadillo can get to an impressive size, weighing up to 130 pounds and growing to over 5 feet long. The Pink Fairy Armadillos are a tiny species, with an average size of 4 to 5 inches. Most of the other species are noted by the number of bands on the shell. The only one known to rely on its back armor for protection is the Three-Banded Armadillo from South America, which often will roll into a ball when attacked.

What are some adaptations of the giant armadillo?

Who are BB and the Armadillo?

BB and the Armadillo are a slapstick-esque comedy from Youtube, created by BBSMan22 (Unknown for sure, but says his name is Matt Davids). The show is poorly animated in Flash, however this is intentional, and adds to the humor of the show. The characters are made as a base character, and shake when they move. Their eyes, mouths, and limbs are fixated in place. The episodes can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/BBandtheArmadillo MAIN CHARACTERS: BBSMan (AKA BB): The protagonist. He wears a black shirt with blue pants. He runs into strange and mysterious people, but escapes with the help of the Armadillo, who appears at bizare times. He begins (except for the few in which he is not in) each episode by stating his location and an exclamation (Example: I am in a Flowery Meadow. Cowabunga.) and ends each episode by stating: "That was Gay." He usually does not change the tone of his voice. BB's evil twin is EebEeb. The Armadillo: The other protagonist. He is a light shade of brown. He first appeared in "BBSMan at Youtube Live", and got his own spin-off series. Armadillo (almost) always appears towards the end of the episode in some bizare fashion, and the "enemy of the episode" states something like: Oh my god, is that an armadillo? Following this, the Armadillo jumps onto the person's face. The persons muffled screams are heard as they struggle, but fall to the ground. It is revealed in "BB and the Armadillo vs the Government" that the Armadillo is an escaped test subject, and "has the ability to jump onto people's faces and make them sleep for a period of time." The government has tried in two episodes to catch the Armadillo, but to no avail. Armadillo's evil twin is Stevie. SECONDARY CHARACTERS: The Anteater Man and the Anteater: An odd pairing. Anteater Man claims to be BB's mortal enemy, as his friend, Armadillo, is the rival species of anteaters. He even got his own episode about how he would get revenge on the Armadillo (one of Armadillo's only MIA episodes.) He has appeared in 4 episodes (one is just for a second with no dialouge as part of a "Ward" montage). The Anteater is the anteater that Anteater Man stole from a zoo. Anteater apparently likes Armadillo, as they team up against Anteater Man in "BB and the Armadillo vs The Anteater Man and the Anteater". EebEeb and Stevie: BB and Armadillo's evil twins, respectivly. EebEeb wears a blue shirt with brown pants. Stevie is a maroon armadillo. They origonally try to fight BB and Armadillo, but end up becoming friends. In "EebEeb and Stevie vs Robotto", Robotto ends up stealing Steive. It is believed that Robotto works for the government, since he is an equal to Armadillo. That being the most recent episode, nothing is known about Stevie's fate. BB and the Armadillo Episodes (All, Just add BB and the Armadillo to Each except for those in bold, just take that as entire title) The entire list is here (in chronological order): The Gangster - The Anteater Man - The Pirate - The Government - Jeffery the Penguin - The Government Search Party - Santa - EebEeb and Stevie (become friends at end) - The Anteater Man and the Anteater vs Singing - Bill the Government Search Man - Ward - Made Epic - Ship - The Anteater Man and the Anteater - EebEeb and Stevie vs Robotto BONUS EPISODES: Two "Bonus Episodes" were made to help (and go against) an experiment made by RaustBD, creator of the Dairanto Gaiden Super Smash Bros. Brawl Machinima. He tried to encourage people to put a special music in the background of any video and title it: (BLANK) Made Epic. He also encouraged people to stop making "Ward" videos. BB and the Armadillo made a Ward and an Epic video. VISIT AND WATCH: http://www.youtube.com/user/BBandtheArmadillo Disclaimer: I am not BBSMan, nor am I affiliated with him (wish I was, but I am just a humble fan.) I also am not RaustBD. Please inform BBSMan of this if you can contact him in case I have left anything important out.

What happens if you run over an armadillo?

It will probably kill the animal or, at the very least, seriously injure it.
