either 6 years or 80,000 miles. I bought my 02 a4 3.0 with 80,000 miles on it and got the timing belt and water pump service before i really drove the car a lot. the belt is rubber and can easily wear in 6 years. better safe than sorry.

The recommended service is to change it every 90,000 ,mlles. This is an interference engine so if the belt breaks you will have engine damage. Do not neglect this service.

You mean that darn little wrench light?I don't have experience with that specific model. However, in models of similar years I've had the owners manual will rfer you to the directions to do so. A combination of key in certtain position and radio buttons believe it or not!

check your brake pads

undo the couple hex heads that hold the head light assembly in and pull it out then disconect the wiring (quick disconects) then open the plastic compartment and theres a wire that holds the bulb down undo that and pull the bulb out its the same for high and low then re-assemble

Hold in the wrench button on instrument cluster, and at the same time turn your key forward (without starting). While still holding the "wrench" button in, press the "0,0" button and hold until the "SERVICE!" notification clears (about 2-3 seconds).

A 2000 Audi Quattro A4 with a 1.8 should replace timing belt and timing belt tensioner at 100,000 miles. It should be checked earlier if your vehicle is subject to severe treatment.

Low oil pressure on an Audi A4 is typically caused by oil sludge in 1.8 turbocharged engines. There was a recall and extended warranty service notice issued by Audi for all 1.8T engines (can't recall what model years though).

Do not drive your car, take it immediately to the nearest Audi dealer and make sure that they check the oil pan. If your car is found to have a sludge or deposit problem, Audi will pay the cost of repair or at least a portion of it.

I found this problem on my 2002 A4 1.8T Avant, which required draining and replacement of all engine oil and upgrading the oil pickup screen, filter and oil pan to reduce future sludge. Frequent oil changes would be advisable if your car is found to have this problem.

Here are 3 options for you at this point:

1. Bring the head into an automotive machine shop for them to repair it;

2. Repair the stripped hole in the head with an insert

3. Buy a new head, rebuild the engine from the head gasket up.

Not sure but at the moment my mechanic seems to think its the lock mechanism that is worn & wants replacing.

The windows dont work because the car thinks the door is open. With mine the interior light stays on aswell, again pointing to the car thinking the door is open.

Not a definite answer but a bit of a coincidence that someone has a similar problem to me.

Follow the top radiator hose down to the water outlet. The stat is in there. I hope this helps you. Mark

It doesn't disable the alarm, it disables the motion sensor in the cabin, should you leave Flarfel in the car. An owner's manual provides a wealth of information, should you decide to read it.

Black smoke means the engine consumes too much gas - possible problem with fuel injection. Is your check engine light on? It could also be a problem with oxygen sensors.

Right on top of fuse box. Fuse box is located on the far left side of the dash. Also additonal relays located in the floor panel to the left of the brake pedal, remove a couple of screws from the molding and there are about 4 relays; one of which operates all the electric windows (#392 I think). Diagram is on the inside cover of the molding.

Seized engine? Weak battery? Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad starter? Bad starter solenoid? Bad neutral or clutch safety switch?

Have the OBDII ran, take it to a advanced auto parts to see if there is a code you may be running rich, or a number of other problems my Audi had a minor misfire which didn't flag the check engine light but caused an occasional backfire because the fuel was being exhausted. If the engine shudders it could be a misfire. Or its possible that your intake filter is clogged.

The fusebox is located on the left side of the dash board. As you open he driver's door, you'll see the panel covering it. Feel around the edge of it and you'll see a small slot laarge enough to fit a flat screwdriver. Pry the panel off there.

The only way to switch off the airbag light is to remove the airbag light or remove the airbag light fuse. The airbag light fuse will disable several other instrument panel warning lights.
