How do you change the headlight on a 2004 Audi A6?
heres how you go about removing the headlight and replacing bulbs:
you will need a 7-point star screwdriver (6+ inches)
1) unscrew the two screws on the tabs above the headlight fixture (if one is missing its not a big deal)
2) unscrew the screw on the bottom of the light fixture. It will be on the inside bottom of the light (towards the grille).
3) For the driver side: unscrew the screw that is slightly in front of the power steering reservoir (if its stuck you may need a wrench to get some movement). This screw only needs to be loosened, don't unscrew it all the way.
For the passenger side: unhook the left part of the air filter (don't worry, it pops in and out easily) there should be a screw towards the hole for the air filter on the upper left of the light, loosen it.
4) Slide the headlight fixture out of the car and undo the little metal clips over the covers. take off which ever cover holds the old bulb and replace it witht he new one. BE CAREFUL! DON;T TOUCH THE BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS, THE OIL MAY CAUSE THEM TO EXPLODE
And on the off chance you make the same mistake as me and drop the screwdrier into the engine block, park your car up on a curb and get it from below.
hope this helps!

How long to 2006 Audi A6 brake pads last estimated miles based on normal driving eg 50-60k?
Depends on driving habits. Stop and go less time, Highway- more time.
I have a 2006 A6 with 28K normal driving on it. I had it in for a service and the dealer said I need front and rear brakes plus I need front and rear rotors. He wanted about $1600 to do it.
Why are you considering the dealer to do it? Find an independent repair shop that works on imports. Also, stock pads and rotors are generally not the best, unless you have an S6 or an RS6. For what it is worth, rotors that can be turned are a rarity.
Here is what I did with my A4. I bought aftermarket pads and rotors (Brembo), and called a local import repair shop in my area. He quoted me $350 for the installation. I spent $500 on the parts.
I really would never use the dealer. I had the car in for a service covered under warranty and that's when they gave me this quote. I have a really good local Audi specialist I usually use. But this time I'm just ordering the parts like you did and I'll do it myself. I'm getting EBC pads and will check the rotors before changing. Thanks for the answer.
How do you change flasher relay on 2001 Audi?
I just did this after really trying hard to find the answer so I'll post my info here.
The turn signal in the Audi A6 (2001) is built into the hazard flasher relay. See the red triangle just above the radio between the cup holder and the little coin compartment? The plate comes off that covers these three components. Just take a flat head screw driver and work your way around gently popping it off. It's held in place by clips and it will just snap back into place.
After you have the cover removed you will see the flasher unit. Take a thin flat head screw driver and from the top there is a small opening just above the unit. Pry it out from the top. It is attached to a harness and if your Audi is like mine, the wires aren't long enough to come all the way out of the compartment so you just pull until it unhooks.
Now comes the fun part. The wiring harness is difficult to work with because it's not designed to come out of the receptacle far enough to plug in the new flasher unit. Who designs these things anyway? I had to work it out as far as I could with a screw driver and then hold it in place with a screw driver from the back of the unit while I attached the flasher unit and then pushed it back into the socket. Be prepared to suppress curse words you may not have used since your youth. I had to go through this procedure three times before it actually attached and the flasher worked. All in all, it saved about $60 worth of labor so I suppose it paid for golf for a few weeks.
