How do you change the front right side signal light bulb in a 2000 Audi A6?
Separate the air intake pieces. They should come out easily. The light box is directly under this. Two round wire clips hold a plastic cover. If you remove the cover it's easier to get at the white plastic holder that requires a slight turn to remove. Be careful to seat this holder properly when installing. This job is not hard.

My 1997 Audi A6 windows won't roll up or down they only work sometimes?
Many times the wires break where they pass from the door into the car body. Unfortunately Audi did not use the best quality of wire for the constant flexing that occurd over the years as the drivers door is openen and close many times. There is a rubber sleeve that covers these wires. This is a good place to start the trouble shooting process with a visual inspection. Sometimes the conductors break inside of their insulation so look carefully and run ur hand over them.
Apparently it has something to do with if your TP button is on for traffic reports and it can't lock a signal to it. Annoying isn't it!!??

Where is the battery located on a 97 Audi a6?
I cannot be absolutely sure on the 96 but on the 1998 its located under the hood, in the rear, by the windshield a cover is over it. Its near the wiper arms, hidden under the plastic cover too. If not there, try the trunk, just behind the rear passenger wheel. Very easy to get to.
I own a 1995 Audi A6 quattro, and my battery is located under the rear seat (passenger side). The 95-97 models were almost exactly the same, so this should be where your battery is. You just have to take out two Philips head screws located on the front of the rear seat, and then a bolt that holds a metal plate tightly against the battery to keep it from moving.

How do you change rear brake pads and depress the piston on a 2006 Audi A6?
Remove the top bolt on the caliper. you need to turn the bolt while holding the nut. The caliper will pivot on the lower bolt. Remove the old pads and you can now push the piston while turning it clockwise to screw it into the cylinder. You have to push and turn because the cylinder is threaded, but only part way.

If my 1999 Audi a6 radiator fan isn't working how likely is it to be a fuse?
Apply 12V to fan and if it works, then it could be a bad connector, bad fan switch/relay, bad fuse, bad ground or a wire break/damage somewhere along power lines.
Where is the turn signal relay for a 2002 Audi A6 27t?
I asked this question today and misunderstood the first poster's answer because he was talking about a 1998 A6. The answer is that the turn signal relay for a 2002 A6 is part of the Hazzard switch. First of all, make sure it's really the turn signal relay. If ANY of the bulbs are loose or about to fail, the turn signal will rapid flash to alert you. You might still see light, but if the system thinks one of the bulbs is dead, it will flash quickly on that side and it might make you think it's the turn relay. Before you determine your turn signal relay is dead, Check all of the bulbs. Once you have determined it is the turn signal relay, pry off the trip molding around the hazzard switch, pop out the rectangular switch behind the triangle, and replace this piece. It will cost about 26.00, and if it's not the relay your dealer will not replace it. It is also possible the front turn signal lights are LOOSE - if the a separate plastic socket houses the bulb, but the electrical connections are inside this piece. If the socket isn't tight, you'll have a poor connection and it will seem like the bulb is dim and ready to die - and -- rapid flash on this side. I spent an hour chasing a flasher relay issue when all that was wrong is a bulb was near dead or loose. Changing these bulbs are a bear unless you have very small hands. Since you're going through this process I'd replace the turn signal bulbs ($5.00) in the front. the rear bulbs are a snap to replace. If I could have given a pro $10.00 to change both turn signal lights I wouldn't be trying to get the grease off my hands for having to submerge my arms under the hood to get to the almost impossible to reach turn signal bulbs int the front.

Replace water pump on 1996 Audi A6?
MAJOR job because it is below the timing belt which you should replace anyway. There are great step by step instructions on the Audi forums with pictures that are better than the factory manuals! An all day job and $300 in parts, but if the water pump is bad your timing belt is soon to follow and will ruin the engine if it breaks! Sorry for bad news, but you have found out about the belt in time! (NOTE assuming you have a 2.8L 12 valve V6)

How do you replace a cv joint on a Audi?
Most cv joints are inside of the boots on each end of the halfshaft. Easy way and least expensive way is to replace the whole halfshaft on the side that you need to replace the cv joint.
New Answer
That's okay if you're not on a tight budget.
Always support your car on a suitable stand when working underneath a car.
Tools: Various spanners, Allen keys, balljoint seperator (hard work if not), soft face hammer.
Time: 60-90 minutes.
Remove wheel, suspension arm bottom nut, toe link, hub nut.
Pull suspension arm out of the front hub you should then be able to pull the suspension leg away to allow the driveshaft through the hub (support it to avoid damaging the splines)
Remove the Allen keys from the gearbox and carefully slide the driveshaft out.
The CV end has circlips on both sides, remove these and the joint can be knocked off the shaft with a soft face hammer to avoid damage, they can be very stubborn so a vice is always handy.
Fitting is reverse but be careful not to damage any of the splines or introduce grit or grime, new boots, hub nut and new oil seals (if fitted) should always be used.
Correct torque settings and cleanliness are vital to avoid premature failure of parts.
