How long do avocado pits grow roots?
If you live in a temperate climate simply throw it into the compost and you'll get avocadoes sprouting up where you spread the compost.
You can half submerge it in a pot of compost or soil and water it - it will split, send up a shoot and then grow roots.
If you live in a colder climate you can stick tootpicks into the side of the pit and suspend it over a glass or jar. Fill the glass with water so that it touches the bottom of the pit. It will send out a shoot and roots will grow hydroponically down into the water.
These methods will work fine if you want an avocado as a house plant for the foliage. If you are hoping to grow your own avocado fruit be prepared for disappointment. You would be better off buying a grafted tree from a nursery.
The avocado is a forest tree and would not normally bear fruit until it reaches the top of the forest canopy.
If you grow your own avocado from the stone you should wait till the main shoot is 1 foot tall and then cut it back to 6 inches. This will encourage the plant to produce side shoots and will increase the liklihood of it bearing fruit sooner.

What preservatives are in Tostitos Avocado salsa?
Yes. There are preservatives in almost all packaged foods, usually along with artificial colours, flavours, and other chemical ingredients designed to preserve the food, stop it from sticking together, falling apart or going mouldy, and make it more visually attractive. Many of these additives can have detrimental health effects, and all of them are unnecessary for a healthy diet. In fact, a healthy diet is generally one that avoids them. They also usually have a disagreeable taste but, if you frequently eat packaged foods, you tend not to notice the taste because you are so used to it. If, however, you treat yourself to a diet of fresh, delicious and preferably organic food (such as a delicious home-made salsa) for a few weeks and then try your packaged food (such as tostitos salsa), you will be shocked at the strange and unpleasant flavours all those chemical additives lend the food. (You'll also be healthier, slimmer and much, much kinder to the environment by avoiding all that manufacturing, packaging and transportation.) Next time you're in the supermarket, try this: read the labels of every food you pick up. You may be shocked. If ingredients have numbers rather than words, you can be sure these are chemicals. What do you think could be so bad that a manufacturer would rather use a number to describe it than a word?

What is the density of avocado oil?
sumthing.............. ^--- WTF? Why the Hell did you bother to answer if all you had was a snarky comment? Go piss on a fire hydrant if you want to brag to the world that you exist and are capable of leaving your insipid mark.
According to the Transportation Information Service of the German government at http://www.tis-gdv.de/tis_e/ware/oele/sesam/sesam.htm :
Sesame Oil - Density
0.919 - 0.934 cm3
All fats and oils have a particular density (approx. 0.9 g/cm3). With a rise in temperature, however, density diminishes, thereby leading at the same time to an increase in volume. This behavior is described by the coefficient of cubic expansion and is known as thermal dilatation.
The coefficient of cubic expansion amounts to: g = approx. 0.0007°C-1
As a rule of thumb, oils may be expected to increase in volume by 1% of their total volume for each 14°C temperature increase.
What is the best climate for growing an avocado tree?
Avocado trees are a species of fruit trees indigenous to South America. This means that avocado trees were first naturally found in South America. Most of these trees were present in tropical areas. These trees are best suited to tropical or subtropical environments, which tend to be higher in humidity. For instance, Southern California and Florida are two areas which have climates suitable for the avocado tree.
Avocado is a fruit with a pear shape. It has oily smooth and edible flesh which is good for pregnant women because of its folate and lots of vitamins. Many people agree that it also prevents nausea.
It's possible, but not probable. There are some toxins in an avocado pit and in the skin, and also in the leaves and bark of the plant itself. But birds are the animal group most "at risk" from them. It is possible that an animal could have an allergic reaction to this fruit (technically a berry), and that included people. It' probably a good idea to dispose of the seeds so the dogs can't get to them, just in case.
How do you plant an avocado pit?
Carefully remove the pit from the ripened fruit. Rinse well, removing all avocado flesh from the pit. Insert 3-4 wooden toothpicks about 1/2 inch deep, into the middle section of the pit, forming a ring. Suspend the pit, widest end down, in a glass of fresh water (the toothpicks will sit on the rim of the glass, holding the pit in place.) The bottom half of the pit should be covered in water. Place the glass in a sunny area like a window. Check the water regularly to ensure it still covers the bottom of the pit and does not need to be changed. Add or change the water as necessary.
In 3-6 weeks, the pit should begin to split open and you should see roots and stems beginning to form. After the stem becomes approximately 8 inches tall, it should be pinched back to remove the top set of leaves. This first pruning ensures a more rounded and full tree. Wait another 2-3 weeks, until the plant has developed new leaves and more roots, before planting in soil.
Remove the sprout from the glass and carefully remove the toothpicks from the pit. Carefully bury the avocado pit and roots in enriched potting soil, so that the top of the pit is still visible above the soil. Water the transplant and place the flower pot in a sunny spot.
Water just enough to keep the soil moist, but not muddy. Yellowing leaves indicate the plant is getting too much water and watering should be withheld for a couple of days. Browning leaves indicate the plant is thirsty and watering should be increased.
Plants can be pinched back or pruned at every 6 inches of growth to make a fuller, shorter tree.
When the root system has filled the pot, transplant the tree into a larger one.
Avocado trees grown indoors should be acclimated to outdoor conditions prior to being planted outdoors.
If you want edible avocados it is best to plant two or more trees to aid pollenation.
