How does the Baha'i faith alter the landscape?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

As humanity matured through many civilizations, Baha'is believe that God manifested the Holy Spirit in many Messengers (ie., Krishna, Moses, etc.) to give Divine guidance. With each appearance of one of God's anointed Messengers, we became ready to learn deeper spiritual truths and practice greater levels of extending ourselves to our fellow man. Baha'is believe that mankind is now ready to recognize and accept some of the Faith's basic tenets toward the goal of the promised eventual world unity: the oneness of humanity, the equality of women and men, the harmony of science and religion, the elimination of prejudices, mandatory education, spiritual solutions to economic extremes, a secondary universal language, and others. Teachings of the Baha'i Faith connect the personal with the global and the practical with the spiritual, providing ways of living with one another in unity.
In terms of the physcial landscape, from what I can tell they have no specific thoughts or rules concerning it. They are just normal people - not radical environmentalists, but also not people who want to pave over the whole earth.

The title is "The Secret of Divine Civilization". The Wikipedia states that it was written in 1875; assuming that is correct, Abdu'l-Bahá was probably in Akká at that time. Today, Akká is in Israel.

How do you know when someone is a bahai?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When they seem to be equal to all races and all genders.

If you notice them teaching about the faith, this may be another hint.

If you still are unsure, ask them! Bahai's love to teach and bring unity to mankind.

If you are interested in the faith, visit the link below for more information!

Or simply try to find Bahai's out there!

You can also find Bahai's in your community!

HOPE THIS HELPS!!

ANSWER 2:

No one can ever know for sure what another's religious beliefs are unless you ask them outright. Most Baha'is usually wear some form of jewelry (ring or pendant) depicting either a nine-pointed star or Persian/Arabic rendition of the "Greatest Name" and are happy to explain the piece if asked about it.

Baha'is can be recognized by certain traits: showing no signs of prejudice (racial, gender, religious, national); don't gossip or badmouth others; non-political; don't drink alcohol; fast every March 2-21; have many Baha'i books in their homes. They believe that the world's major religions all stem from the same Source and that Baha'u'llah is the promised Manifestation of God for this Age.

What is the inscription in the entryway of the eternal flame or flame of unity near the shrine of the Bab at the Bahai complex on Mt Carmel in Haifa Israel?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I have visited the Shrine of the Bab on Mt Carmel and am not sure what you are describing. There is no "sascred flame" associated with anything Baha'i. There are two calligraphic symbols always used by the Baha'i Faith and it could be one of these. The first could be the "Greatest Name" symbol, a calligraphic rendering of "Yá Bahá'u'l-Abhá" ( يا بهاء الأبهى ) and usually translated as "O Thou the Glory of the Most Glorious!").

The second possibility, also found at the top of the eight pillars of the Shrine, consists of two stars on either side of a stylized "Greatest Name" (Baha, tr. glory or splendor). It has three horizontal lines and one vertical line. The lower line represents humanity and the world of creation, the upper line represents the world of God, and the middle line represents the Manifestations of God and the world of God's revelations. The vertical line connecting the three horizontal lines represents the Holy Spirit that proceeds from God through the Manifestations to humanity. The two stars represent the Bab and Baha'u'llah.

"Hi Thanks,

The inscription is not on the shrine. It is in the small building off to the side that houses the sacred flame. When you enter the building there is a large opening and on either side there is a verse or something-tells a kind of story. If I remember correctly, it is on both sides of the door way. It is quite long because it goes from the ceiling to the floor. I have visited there twice but cannot find this info anywhere on the web, and photos were not allowed."

This does not sound like the Shrine of the Bab. Baha'is have no sacred flame anywhere.

Was Queen Marie of Romania a Bahai or Russian Orthodox adherent?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Queen Marie's daughter, Ileana, who became a Greek Orthodox nun (Reverent Mother Alexandra) has denied that her mother ever became a Baha'i. In the Baha'i Faith, however, there is no formal rite of entry such as baptism or other ritual ceremony. To "be" a Baha'i, one only has to proclaim a sincere belief in Baha'u'llah and accept/follow the tenets of His Faith. Queen Marie not only made pilgrimage to the Baha'i holy shrines in Israel, she was a vocal advocate of the Baha'i Faith and wrote a number of personal letters, as well as articles in the syndicated newspaper series "Queen's Counsel," championing its cause. These are of record and in the international archives of the Faith on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel. Based upon the following and similar writings by the queen, it's accepted amongst the Baha'i community that she was, indeed, a Baha'i...

"It is like a wide embrace gathering together all those who have searched for words of hope. It accepts all great Prophets gone before, it destroys no other creeds and leaves all doors open....The Bahá'í teaching brings peace to the soul and hope to the heart. To those in search of assurance, the words of the Father are as a fountain in the desert after long wandering....It is a wondrous message that Bahá'u'lláh and His son 'Abdu'l-Bahá have given us. They have not set it up aggressively, knowing that the germ of eternal truth which lies at its core cannot but take root and spread....It is Christ's Message taken up anew, in the same words almost, but adapted to the thousand years and more difference that lies between the year one and today....If ever the name of Bahá'u'lláh or 'Abdu'l-Bahá comes to your attention, do not put their writings from you. Search out their books, and let their glorious, peace-bringing, love-creating words and lessons sink into your hearts as they have into mine." (Queen Marie of Rumania, "Queen's Counsel," 1927)

Not, it is not true that this is a Baha'i belief. Deut. 18:18 referred solely to Jesus Christ.

How are annelids beneficial?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Annelids are helpful in that they burrow in the soil and these burroughs connect to the surface and admit air into the soil (aeration. This also allows water to percolate or pass down into the soil with the aid of gravity. The digestive waste and soil (ingested when feeding) will be deposited on the soil surface thus bringing minerals to the surface to benefit plants.

Why are bahai people hurt in Iran?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

They have been the object of a sustained hate-campaign sponsored by the government, and also by anti-Baha'i organisations, and they are themselves censored so that people find it difficult to learn the truth about the Baha'is.

Anti-Baha'ism is to Iranian politics what anti-semitism was to French, Italian and German politics in the 1930s. Recently, anti-Baha'ism and anti-semitism have been fused, as it is increasingly claimed that Baha'is are "really" Jews (which is not true of course, Baha'is are not Jews, but Baha'is do condemn anti-semitism).
