Why did Bishop Eddie Long preach that Eve was created not by the rib of Adam but by the ovaries of Adam?

Answer 1:

Why did he preach this? Because he doesn't kjnow the scriptures. Eve was taken and formed from the rib of man. Read the second chapter of Genesis. The Scriptures say RIB not ovaries. Maybe he was just kidding. Men don't have ovaries. OR maybe he was an IMPOSTOR.

Answer 2The Bible states that Eve was made from the rib of Adam.Anything other than that is unBiblical belief. The fact that men don't have ovaries is evidence that what the Bishop said isn't true. Answer 3 (from Islamic perspective)There is no mention in Quran (Muslims holy book that reflects real God words revealed to prophet Muhammad; peace be upon him; through the angel Gabriel or Jibril) on how Eve is created from Adam. Meaning English translation:

{O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. ... (1)}

[Quran, chapter 4, verse 1]

Answer 4I would not listen to anything else that Eddie Long had to say. He apparantly needs to read the Bible a little more. This is a perfect example of "ministers" of God who "preach" the Word according to their own benefit. How could he be a preacher and teach something that goes completely against the doctines that he's sworn by? There are many arguments about which Bible version/translation is the best... Regardless, almost each one tells of the first surgery performed when God took a rib from the lonesome Adam's body and made that rib into a woman, Eve, who would be Adam's complement, his helper. Eve had the ovaries, not Adam.

I think Eddie long needs to invest some of that money he's raking in to get him a Bible Study. It'll do him and all the people his misleading some good! I have not heard this but I could argue that it is because when Adam was first created Adam was both male and female as God has no set gender and God created Adam in his divine image.

Thus to differentiate Adam and make from one person both a make and female removing and making the female from the female genitalia would make sense.

I personally think that early Judaism had a female counterpart to Jehovah. I need more facts to back this up but I suspect the truth is on the net somewhere.

Answer 5When one studies Sex Determination in Mammals, during the early status of the fetus one learns that the gonads are undifferentiated. Without the Y chormsome and testosterone, gonads, by default, develop into the primary female sex organs, (ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, clitoris). When the Y chromsome and testosterone are present, the gonads develop into the primary male sex organs (testicals not ovaries, penis not clitoris, sperm duct not fallopian tubes, prostate not urethra, scrotum not labia majora). Adam had no overies. He had undifferentiated gonads.

Adam came to know his wife only after they were expelled forn the Garden of Eden, and that's when Eve conceived Cain. (Gen 4:1) When Adam was 130 yrs old Eve gave birth to Seth. (Gen 5: 2)

You can read what else happened to them in the First Book of Adam and Eve.

Answer 6I don't feel any significance of knowing that Eve was created from Adam's rib or ovaries. It is enough to know that Eve was created from Adam; as mentioned in Qur'an. Qur'an says: {O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. ... } [4:1]

How does southern Baptist religion affect the culture?

Characters in popular movies and TV shows occasionally share the southern Baptist religion. For instance, two of the characters in the movie Deliverance (I believe their names are Bobby and Ed) showed many similarities of followers of that religion. The movie received an Academy Award for Best Picture. I know there are many other examples in popular culture, but they aren't coming to me right now. Perhaps someone else could fill more in.

Isn't a southern Baptist a racist?

As a Southern Baptist, I would like to think not. However, the Southern Baptists broke away as a separate organization in 1845, in part, because of their support of slavery. It is also true that many Southern Baptists supported laws that supported segregation based on race in the United States.

Of course that was many years ago, and most all groups have some embarrassing histories (if they are willing to look honestly into it). Southern Baptists as a group and as a whole are not racist in belief or practice.

Can one be a racist and be Southern Baptist today? Absolutely, as racists can be part of pretty much any group they want. But Southern Baptists do not have racist beliefs as part of their Baptist Faith and Message, and the vast majority of Southern Baptists today would reject the segregationist past of their denomination. It is good to learn and grow, both as an individual and as an organization.

How do Baptists celebrate Lent?

They don't.

Baptists do not observe Lent with the same reverence that members of the Roman Catholic, Lutheran and some levels of Anglican/Episcopalian churches do. Also, it would be an improper use of the word "celebrate". It is more an "observance", that is, a time of reflection on the depth and greatness of Jesus's sacrifice for us.

Can women be priests in the Baptist church?

The roles of women in baptist churches located in religious canons, and dated traditional documentation; all implied that they should not be allowed as ordained clerics or as pastors.

In the 21st century, the role of women in baptist churches were as Sunday school teachers, general mission presidents, treasurers, secretaries, clerks, choir presidents, musicians, nurses, ushers, deaconess (wives of deacons), and especially in the ministry of helps (kitchen).

The roles of women in the baptist churches have been botched both hermeneutically and homiletically. Women roles in the baptist churches were denied traditionally not to have no spiritual authority as clerics to preach from the Holy Scriptures, administer communion, perform weddings, or officiate funerals based on their unclean epoch or menstruation.

In summary, the roles of women in Christian churches have been placed in a horrible sexist category as a subservient idiot who is better off seen and not heard, bear foot and pregnant.

What is the hierarchy on protestant religion?

I'm not sure what hierarchy is meant by the questioner. Rank or authority in leadership varies widely in protestant organizations of my acquaintance I would guess the Episcopal Church has the most hierarchy. Other churches of varying hierarchical structure would include the Lutheran Church, the Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church, Church of Christ, Pentecostal Church, Baptist Church, etc., no particular order intended. Many local Bible churches that are stand alone organizations with no allegiance to a national or international group may have very little hierarchal structure. The Roman Catholic Church, characterized here as non-Protestant with no offense intended, may have the most levels of hierarchy. The Eastern Orthodox Churches may have much hierarchal structure. But for most if not all the organizations, the highest position is the Lord Jesus Christ himself who is the bridegroom of the church and the people of the churches are the brides based on Luke 5:34-35, 2Corinthians 11:2, and other verses. That is the Biblical characterization of the relationship between Jesus and his followers that is perhaps the clearest picture available as to what will ultimately count. Meanwhile, if only to facilitate organizational operation, we have one or more of the various earthly titles like Pope, Cardinal, Bishop, Priest, Pastor, Elder, Deacon, and likely others depending on the organization. Even the sexton, who rings the bell or cleans the church or digs the graves, or takes out the garbage has rank and performs important duties! All organizations must have structure. That necessitates some kind of ranking or hierarchy to avoid more chaos than might otherwise exist. But for any and all members of the organization, leaders included, none are worthy to inherit the promises of God, not one! Each man, each woman, needs Jesus the Savior, Biblically speaking of course!
