What is a baseball cork?

Cork Ball, as it was played in the southend of Columbus, Oh. after WWll consisted of simply a fishing cork and a cutoff broomstick handle. The cork was normally wrapped in in any electrical tape we could scrounge from our parents. Our game consisted of 3 strikes and you were out of the inning. We used street curbs on each side of the street plus and other areas between the sidewalks on each side to mark our singels, doubles, etc. The uniqueness of our game the way the cork was pitched. It was gripped between the thumb and the index and middle fingers and released underhanded. Depending on the angle of release, the cork would dive, drop, curve(dramatically) or rise in and out. The batter never knew what was coming. The cork ball pitcher's motion was similar to a fastpitch softball pitcher. In the seventies and eighties I taught my sons the game. Now the grandsons are learning. One thing about this game; You need good eyes! Old timers like me need not apply.

The drop of the bat is the difference between the length minus the weight. For example, if a bat is 33" long and it weighs 30 ounces, then the drop is -3. The drop of the bat varies in baseball, depending on the level of play. Little League doesn't have any regulations for the drop zone. Senior League baseball (ages 10 - 14) has a drop zone regulation of no lighter than -8. High school baseball has a drop zone regulation of no lighter than -3. College baseball has a drop zone regulation of no lighter than -3.

How do you wear sliding shorts with underwear or no underwear?

My friend Peter is very weird he doesn't wear underwear all the time. In after school sports he doesn't wear underwear under his shorts. He gave me this reason: Don't you not want your balls to get your undies all sweaty and that you have to let your balls be free. He showed me his balls once @ a sleepover. They weren't ugly although he made me stare @ them all night. We slept in the same bed and he made me undress so he saw my balls. He said they weren't ugly either. Peter is very perverted. He kept touching my balls and hugging me in bed. It was actually kinda fun.

Which drop on a baseball bat is the best a -3 or -12?

This really is a question with no answer. The question also leaves out -10's, -8's, and -5's. You want a bat that you can swing fast enough and be comfortable with. A heavier bat will carry itself better when you hit the ball, ecspecially if you can get good bat speed. That's the reason people get heavier bats. Just get a bat that you can swing good but it should not feel like a twig.

How do you bake a baseball glove?

First, oil or spray your glove down good. Then, place in the oven at 325 to 350 for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on stiffness of leather. Pull it out of the oven and rub off excess oil. As soon as you feel you can place your hand inside the heated glove do so. (I recommend a batting glove of some sorts for this part.) Once your hand is in work it a couple of times then place a baseball or softball in the pocket and close the glove as if you were making a catch and tie the the glove in this position. Then, let the glove sit for 4 or 5 hours. Untie the glove and work it for 30 minutes. Repeat as necessary.

How does the weight of a baseball bat affect the distance the ball travels?

A bat hitting a baseball is an elastic collision which means there is a transfer of momentum from the bat to the ball. Since momentum is equal to mass multiplied by velocity, a higher mass means more momentum.

However, you also must consider that it is harder to swing a heavier bat and therefore it will travel slower and therefore have less momentum.
