The Colored base series of baseball bobbing heads were the very first set of bobble head dolls issued. They were issued from 1960-1961 and included only 12 Major Leagues teams. The series also included 3 PCL (Pacific Coast League) teams. Each doll sits on a different color base- the Major League teams do not have the cities decaled on the base. Unlike future baseball series, there were only 2 mascot head dolls in this set (Baltimore Orioles & the Pittsburgh Pirates). Most dolls range in the - range with the exception of the rare Washington Senator doll that can bring 1,500 dollars and better.

The first baseball team to offer a bobble head giveaway was the San Francisco Giants, which distributed 20,000 Willie Mays head nodders at a 1999 game. They were made by Alexander Global Promotions Inc. and currently sell for about two hundred dollars. According to the collector's price guide, "Team Baseballs," your mid-30's Yankees team-signed ball is worth between $800-1500, with value being greater or lower depending on exact year and players present - in particular, the inclusion or exclusion of Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig - plus all-important overall condition of the ball and autographs. Other key factors include type of ball (is it an "Official American League" ball?), whether there are any "clubhouse signatures" (autographs signed for players by ballboys, attendants, etc), and total number of signatures present. Collectible items could add value to the price of a signature but not always. As in the case of a baseball card, generally collectors of baseball cards would rather have a baseball card without the signature. The signature would be considered as a flaw in the condition of the card and will lower the value.

A collector of signatures will not always pay extra for the "collectible" baseball card. The autograph collectors main concern is displaying the signature. This is why it is not a good idea to have an expensive baseball card signed. You could devalue the price of the card, and get less for it.

Once a collectible baseball card is signed the value of the card dramatically goes down as a collectible. The card then becomes an Item to display the signature. The bulk of the value relies on the value of the signature of the player that signed the card, and how well the card displays the signature.

In general a signed baseball card is worth about 30% - 40% the price of a signed baseball or the same price of a signed 8 x 10 photo. A high valued card can add some value.

Upper Deck did not issue baseball cards until 1989. Look for the copyright for the year the card was issued, and include the card number.

A 1922 New York Giants World Series program played at The Polo Grounds is worth about $1,500.-$2,500. in excellent - near/mint condition. A 1922 New York Yankees World Series program played at Yankee Stadium is worth $1,500.-$2,500. As with all collectibles, condition is the most important factor of all providing that the item is authentic. With programs/scorecards the slightest flaws will bring the price down significantly. An exceptional mint condition scorecard could sell for more. Common flaws would be staining, foxing (yellowing), fading, creases, rips, loose pages, cracked binding, and writing on the cover. Un-scored programs will generally sell at a higher price than a scored program but sometimes it doesn't effect value. The over all condition, and how well the cover displays will.

The value on a "scored" program as opposed to a un-scored program can vary depending on the game, and collectors preference. In general I would say an un-scored program will sell at a higher price. Some collectors do not mind scored programs, or might prefer it scored. A game in note that might sell at a higher price "scored" would be Don Larsens perfect game in the World Series.
