The dog breed of Basset Hounds was originally bred in France, although there are engravings that show similar dog breeds in the Ancient Egypt, dated thousands of years ago.

The Basset Hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. They fit into family life well. Their temperament should always be friendly, and never vicious, moody or harsh, and would only become so if the owners led the dog to believe he was pack leader over humans. They are mild but not timid; very affectionate with its master and friendly with children. It can be a bit stubborn with meek owners and need a firm, confident, and consistent owner who displays natural authority over the dog. Dogs need to know the rules of the house and have the humans stick to them. Bassets like to do tricks for food. It has a deep musical bark. Housebreaking is difficult, but they do well with positive reinforcement and patient, gentle training. With proper training, they are obedient, but when they pick up an interesting smell, it's sometimes hard to get their attention, as they like to follow their noses and may not even hear you calling them back. Only allow your Basset off lead in safe areas.

I believe the show you are referring to was titled "The People's Choice" with Jackie Cooper as "Sock" and Patricia Breslin as "Mandy". The Basset Hound was a female red and white named Cleo (and had most of the good lines). The show ran from 1955 to 1958 (in B&W) but it was in reruns after that. Hope that helps.

I happen to have a basset hound named Dottie. Her ears, head, and feet are the most smelliest. So, I would say clean the basset hound's ears? Or her head and feet?(btw clean the ears with alcohol or like those ear cleaning liquid.)

Many things, first of all size, shape, and color. Basset Hounds are short-legged, relatively small, and have long backs. They often come in white with patches of brown. Blood Hounds are not short-legged, having a more proportionate build. They are quite large, and are a reddish-brown color with some darker points.

Two things to check - The therostate may need replacing. AND, the throttle position sensor mounted on the side of the air intake - opposite the throttle linkage - may be bad. The TPS is a poteniometer of sorts. About $50. You can test it in place. Removing it can present a problem in getting it back to the EXACT position it was in before being removed. It sends signals to the computer at idle and full throttle. The mid-range throttle position fuel control is determined by the computer. Another item to check is the water temperature switch near the thermostat. Sometimes you need to put a water hose clamp around it for it to make good contact.
